not sure what your budget is, but the State Room can hold up to 800 people i think! http://www.maweddingguide.com/sitelocator/reception_details.php?uid=69328d5fc8ddda80b281334029c3fabb®ion=0
Sorry! Major detail missing on that one!! Our reception is most likely going to be at the World Trade Center on the Seaport. (At the Seaport Hotel. They do have the option to have the ceremony in the Ballroom and then "flip" the room, but we dont love that idea)
We are considering the Moakley Courthouse or the ICA for the actual ceremony and are looking at other options. To see if there are maybe any non-denominational churches in the area or other function rooms with great views.
We looked at the State Room -- we loved it, but didn't think it was worth the prices, unfortunately because the view are gorgeous!
Thanks for your responses!
We had our ceremony & reception room flipped. It was amazing....done in 20 minutes, and no one noticed. For the cocktail hour we went upstairs. Anyway, I believe the WTC does outdoor ceremonies as well? You could get a heated tent? Other than that, I am sure there are many non-denominational churches in Boston. just google it. I love the state room - we were married at Veronique. I know the prices are absurd, but for us it was totally worth it. They really throw an amazing event. I know some people who attended a wedding there and were in awe....that is of course if you have the money for it.
there is a non-dem church right across from the commons.
and its HUGE!
and you would have amazing pictures!
maybe you can even hire the horse drawn carriage guy to bring or pick ya'll up!
I wanted to update everyone and let you know that we decided to have both our ceremony AND reception at the Boston World Trade Center (in conjunction with the Seaport Hotel).
We couldnt be more excited about it!
Thanks for all your great suggestions!

Hi All,
I'm having a winter wedding (01.02.2010) and am looking for a place in downtown Boston for my ceremony. We are thinknig we do not want to do a church (though we are both raised Catholic but have fallen away from the church for the most part) and are looking for ideas for locations for a ceremony. We have a LARGE wedding (very large families!) -- we will probably invite at least 300 and hope for more like 250 to come.
Any and all suggestions welcome.
I'm also brand new to the board so -- HI! :)
