@Ocean: I know! I contacted them but unfortunately never got a reply- I feel like they must be so popular they aren't great about getting back to people... it's a beautiful site though!
@anchors_away: I would NOT REST until I got in touch with them!! It's a fine line between bride-to-be and full-blown stalker! 
@anchors_away: My cousin got married at St. Mary's, and it was beautiful! She was from out-of-state as well, so I don't think they have rules about only being open to parishioners. I have found that churches aren't great about answering emails, so I would recommend calling until you get ahold of someone.
@anchors_away: Salve Regina University has a chapel (catholic) and a mansion, which has nondenominational weddings, or St. Lucys in Middletown. I live out of state and got married there. They were great to work with.
@starfish: I didn't know about the mansion- we swung by Salve Regina when we were in town and looked at the chapel and FI wasn't a big fan of it. I'm a bit torn because I don't really want to do the whole Catholic ceramony, but FMIL and my Mom are very Catholic. If I weren't worried about rain, I'd just do it on the lawn at Castle Hill! We're going to go look at Channing Memorial Church which is a UU church and see how that is. Also, I heard there's a chapel on the naval base... anyone know anything about that one?
Salve is absolutely stunning--Ochre Point, not the Chapel. I used to go to conferences on the university property and remember seeing weddings taking place and it made me want to have mine there. There's a long line of trees down the front and it's gorgeous when lit up at night. One of the weddings I saw the couple had a horse drawn carriage--it was like watching Cinderella and Prince Charming.

Hi Bees-
I'm looking for a place to hold my ceremony in Newport for Sept 1, 2013 (it's a Sunday of labor day weekend). We are having our reception at Castle Hill Inn. We don't want to get married there, and are looking for an indoor place. We are Catholic, so can do a church, but are also open to chapels or non denominational places... Any thoughts/recommendations?
