I think it depends on how late you think your guests will be able to stay since your wedding is on a Sunday. I voted for 4pm in case guests need to leave earlier for work the next day.
If it were a Saturday i would suggest later but on a sunday earlier.
I say 4 so that people can have more time to enjoy the reception.
There is very little information in your post!
Why do you want to push it earlier?
What time is the reception starting? are you doing pictures before the ceremony or in between the ceremony and reception?
I chose 4:30 because my ceremony is starting at 4:30 :-)
@ future mrs. martin We are pushing it earlier simply because I though 5:00pm was late for a sunday. The reception is at the same place as the ceremony and it just starts after the ceremony and cocktail hour. We are doing pics after the ceremony during cocktail hour.
@jacqi Im sure there will be some people leaving early since it is a sunday, but the majority of our close friends and family have already told us they are taking monday off and making a vacation out of it. Some of our friends are even talking about doing an after party.
i think it also depends how long the ceremony will be. if it's shorter i'd probably want to have it at 4:30, but if it's longer i'd want it at 4:00.
@ Limo -Awe thats cute! and the best reason ever! :-)
We had a 4 pm Sunday ceremony, and the reception ended around 10 (I think, I'm surprised I don't even remember any more!). The party was starting to wind down by then since folks had to head to work the next day. I think it worked well for us!

We originally had our ceremony time set at 5:00 pm, but we decided to move it a little earlier. I was wondering for a sunday black tie optional wedding in july what would be the best start time. 4:00 or 4:30? I know it isnt a huge difference, I just wanted some opinions.
