Hello! This is my first post... I would really like some feedback on a problem my fiance and I are having with our wedding day schedule.  We found the perfect church and reception site..yay! However, the reception site is a 45 minute drive from the church...

All my family and friends assured me that this was not a problem and not too far for guests too drive.. Ok, that's settled.

The tricky part now is that the church is only available from 10-2 or 3-7.  This really doesn't give us as much time as we wanted to take photos after the ceremony.. SO, although we wanted to have our ceremony at 3, the latest...Here is our new plan:

3:00 - Set up church decorations (not much needed)

    3:30 - Cermony

4:00 - Ceremony ends, People leave for reception, Bridal Party Takes photos

    5:30 - Cocktail hour begins

6:30 - Reception begins, Bridal Party Arrives

    7:00 - Dinner

Can anyone tell me if this looks like a do-able plan OR are we cutting it to close?

    Thanks!

Welcome! My concern would be that if the ceremony starts at 3:30, most guests will probably arrive between 3 and 3:15, so the church won't be set up when you get there. Is there any way you could get there even 15 min earlier to do the decorations?

Is there anyway you could leave a little more room for church setup.  What are you planning to do inside the church?  I think it's typical for people to start arriving 30 minutes prior to the start time.  My concern is that you'd be setting up as people are seated.

    Everything else looks great!

    @CorgiTales:

Thanks...yes, this was my biggest concern... Luckily, the church is beautiful without much help... I did want to add some pew decorations and maybe a flower arrangement or two up front..so hopefully, with lots of help, this can be done very quickly...

The only chance of getting in early to start decorating is if no one books the morning slot... Then, they could shift our entire rental from 2-6... Which would be PERFECT but we won't get a guarantee until 3 weeks before the wedding!  :l

After talking to my fiance, I think we will just move the ceremony to 4... This way there's no stress and even if we start a little late, folks stil have 45 minutes to get to reception for cocktail hour...

thanks for helping me work this out! I am such a fan of this site now! :D

We are on schedule for a 4pm ceremony and 6pm cocktail hour start time but it will only take about 15 minutes for guests to travel to the reception site so my worry is that they will be bored and have too much time on their hands....plus I would love to have more time for photos so we can travel around to different locations.  Love this site too - best of luck to you!

I agree that moving the ceremony to 4 is your best option.  Your previous schedule had too much time in between the ceremony and reception.  You were giving people and hour and a half to drive 45 minutes which would me they would have a lot of waiting around time.  Moving the ceremony to 4 solves this problem and allows more time for church set up.

i also agree that the 3 and 330 will be too close. I would recommend you guys start to decorate at 230
