Sooo our venue we decided to go with is charging us per person for EVERYTHING.. such as.. I am paying $57.00 pp for: USE of ceremony site, cocktail hour, reception site bridal preperation area, all chair and table rentals, all set up and tear down, dinner, appetizers, soft drinks, a chef and his assistant (our food is going to be made to order pasta bar), 3 servers and a bartender. oh, and valet parking. SO I know this is a fantastic deal, but the only other place I looked into did it differently. It was $1000 to use ceremony site, $1500 to use reception site, $22.00 pp for dinner, $2.00 per chair, $10.00 per table, etc.
I have no complaints, I just wanted to know if anyone else is being billed like this? Also, it makes me very neurotic about my guest list going up because I don’t want to pay any more!

i think every venue is different. we looked at a place that was approx. $6k for the venue (comes with table and chairs) and everything else you bring in. the place we went with includes almost everything except the officiant, photog, flowers, dj, and a few other things. we’re paying $2,000 for ceremony and reception fee and then per person for food of another $60-80 pp and then another per person charge for alcohol package ranging from $25-45 pp.
btw: $57 per person is an awesome deal. most all inclusive places we looked at were at least $90 per person.
i priced out both options for all inclusive and bring your own and they were coming in at the same range. i didn’t want to have to contract for every chair, spoon, and water goblet.

Ours is a flat fee of 558$ for tables/chairs/linens/chair covers/ceremony&reception (12-13 hours), entire lodge. Dinner is going to be about 50$ pp with 15% service charge, our centerpieces and any decor is up to us, and we’re having a cash bar.

My venue ( and plenty around here) just include tables, chairs, linens, table settings, bar ware, etc in their pricing. I’m paying $5,400 or so for the overall venue fee and $65 per person for food on top of that. The bar is separate.

Yea, I am planning on doing a cash bar too. I forgot to say that my $57.00 also includes taxes and gratuity! So there are other “all inclusive” soft of venues out there? of course I still need a DJ, flowers/centerpieces/photog/etc.

mine is pretty much exactly how you described.

Depends on the venue. We live in Iowa and I always thought our venues would be cheaper than other states but we have places here that are between $8k-12k depending on if you rent 1/3 the room or the whole room. That also doesn’t include catering which has to be through them.
We finally decided on a venue that is only $800, including tables and chairs and we will have the ceremony outside and the reception inside. We can also choose our catering, but they only allow beer, wine and champagne. However, the type of alcohol we serve is not important to us. We also have to provide the alcohol they don’t stock it themselves. Where as most other sites have bars there with liquor already stocked.
I guess it will just depend on what you are comfortable paying and if it fits the ambience you want for your wedding. GL

We are looking at a venue for a mid am ceremony and a breakfast brunch..very casual. only champagne toast and punch served. its 30 a person plus taxes..i like that easier to budget..
W- my ? is though did you want to make any changes? if yes did it change your pricing? we meet with the site in july it includes centerpieces but i want to provide mine..wondering if my price will come down or can negotiate something else in place of..did you do anything similar?

@JoshsTammy: I didn’t wanto to necessarily make any changes, but I do just get stressed when I realize I need to add someone to my guest list.. for instance, I had a couple on there that were more just aquantainces, and as my FI put it.. “do we realllllly want to spend $114.00 for them to be there??” and I know it will break down to more than that because of everythign else, but it puts it into perspective and I feel really cheap, but hey!
