Its typical to have an hour "cocktail hour" between the ceremony and reception where you can have drinks and appetizers and then you can take pictures during that time. If the parking and your ceremony are close and there are people who know will be late I would just make a note in your wedding website or word of mouth about if they aren't able to make it to the ceremony, please arrive after xx:xx pm or something along those lines.

i need advice on the start time for the ceremony and reception. we are having a friday wedding, so some guests will not be able to make it to the ceremony...they will come after work and school for the reception. my main concern is having the ceremony and reception too close together, as the ceremony is outside and i dont want guests pulling up in their vehicles for the reception while the ceremony is still going on. another concern is what time should i start the reception....i want to allow plenty of time for guests to arrive while at the same time not eating too late or ending up with a short reception.
also, between the ceremony and reception i need to provide something for guests to snack on....is that enough? what else do people do for the guests during the inbetween time?? i apologize if these seem like dumb questions lol...i get so stressed on this planning stuff..
