catpeaches:  I think a decision on chair covers is directly determined by what the chairs look like. In most cases, I would say no – find a better place to spend that money.

I really distinctly dislike chair covers. I find them dated and stuffy. But that’s me.

As much as I did NOT want to spend the money on them, I had to.Ours comes with their standard padded banquet chairs but they are in this gosh awful forest green color and red floral print that look really old/stained.  I really of course would have loved the chiviari chairs but cannot justify that expense when the covers with sashes are less than 1/4 of the chairs. So yes, we opted to have the covers and a sash. So much more pleasing to the eye.

I agree though…it would totally depend on the chairs offered.

I hate the “sea of white” look that you get with chair covers. It takes away from all the other decor. I have actually never seen chairs that were so bad that they looked better with chair covers.

We have those nasty brown folding chairs.. so yeah, we’re using chair covers. Our tablecovers are white, and the chaircovers are black.

catpeaches:  I think they’re a waste of money. They don’t make the chairs any more comfortable, which is really what guests appreciate more than aesthetics.

we had colored table cloths to go with our color scheme then off white chair covers and a sash that complimented the table cloth. it was included in our package so money wasn’t an issue. I do agree with julies1949 about not liking the all white look between white chair covers and white table cloths. The usual banquet chairs at our hotel were a deep red which didn’t go with our colors at all so I’m glad the covers were included.

I think that ugly chairs should be covered, especially if they’re plastic and have stains on them from markers or whatever… I personally will have them because I think it adds to the decor and just makes the room look nicer with the tables and chairs all dressed up.

They can be expensive when you add it all up!

catpeaches:  Depends on the chair – my FI made it a point to say no chair covers from the beginning (and this is the one thing he is adamant about). We ended up chosing these gold, plastic chiavari chairs that were $3/ea and no covers necessary. If you’re just sitting on the chair, can’t even tell they’re plastic 😉

catpeaches:  really nee to see chairs to make accurate decision.

I could have easily gone without them in general, but the chairs we had at the venue- while they certainly weren’t horrible, I felt they would have been distracting.  So we opted for them.

I absolutely HATE chair covers. However, I will be having them. The chairs at our venue are just too ugly not to be covered.

I am having them. I think they make the reception area look more formal. My fsil is a wedding planner so I don’t have to pay anything for any of mine.
