@klhubb: My opinion only: Not worth it. That’s my wedding band. Or a really fancy wedding cake. Or a flight across the country. They’re just chairs. And they’re not that ugly!

Those chairs are pretty cute! Unless they’re worse in natural lighting or something.

I would use that $500 for something more fun!

@klhubb:  I found the majority of bees favor skipping chair upgrades/covers whilst reading through the boards in search of a solution to the same dilemma.

Your chairs are fine as they are.  (At least they’re banquet and not folding like mine!). They do not need to be replaced, and you could either save the money or use it towards something else. Alternatively there are multitudes of less expensive options than renting different chairs. If you do a search on the bee there have been a lot of great ideas shared. That said….personally I choose to get chair covers. I’m getting satin universal self-tie so I don’t have to worry about sashes. In part I’m getting them because I don’t need that many, I found them cheap online-(I don’t care if they’re not the highest quality they’re a one use thing), my venue has folding chairs, and mostly because I wanted to stop thinking about chairs! 🙂

I wouldn’t. However, I definitely see the appeal of the $500 chairs. They’re beautiful.

If you look at my date you’ll see I’m hard core in the middle of wedding planning, so inclined to notice ALL the details. I’ve been to two weddings in the last three weeks. For reals. I could not describe the chairs I sat in at either wedding beyond “uh… chairs?” I don’t even recall if there were covers at the one 2.5 weeks ago. The one this past Saturday definitely went without (because my sweaty self slid about on the vinyl after a good bout of dancing). But I still don’t know what it looked like…

I would definately use the regular chairs. They look nice and they look comfy. Those  chiavaris may look nice, but  they’re really uncomfortable for your guests. And uncomfortable guests are grumpy guests.  They will all thank you for the regular chairs and you’ll save money!!!

I would pay for the chiavari chairs but I am the minority! After spending money on linens and center pieces I just can not deal with a banquet chair. If you have the budget upgrade!

they’re fine. if they were uglier i would look at covering them but they’re really not, i would save the money for something else.

@klhubb:  I’d go for the $500 chairs, but I’m biased. I’ve been in love with chiavari chairs since before I was engaged, and I’m lucky enough to have gotten mine for free as a promotion when we paid our first deposit to our venue.

Honestly, though, if you’re not dying to get these chairs, you probably won’t notice or care if you kept the original chairs. So save the $500 if you’re not too bothered by it.
