I am new to the site & have read so many threads! I just got engaged – YAY!!~
We have no set date – I prefer an indoor reception!!!
(what time of year can you get the best deals?)
First my FH (that’s future husband right) lol is Jamaican so I would love to have that be our theme. Not the typical caribbean multi colors but just a simple elegant green, black & yellow (lime/lemons) theme. We are VERY religious so no alcohol will be served & a bar is not req.
WE LOVE TO DANCE!! A DANCE FLOOR IS MUST : )
I need a venue that can accomodate an outside caterer but that is not EXTREMElY expensive (under 1500). I want to really be able to add my own touches, so a hall/banquet area would be great. (nothing super cheesy or tacky)
I am having my ceremony at our church in Philadelphia so nothing over 30 minutes away.
I’m a big DIYer (or so I think) I love crafts/saving $$ but any of you experienced bees could shed some light or give me info on some Philly venues i’d be forever grateful!! <3

For the most bang for you buck a winter wedding is always the cheapest and falls during the last two weeks in Nov to the end of March. Not only will a venue be cheaper but DJ’s, and photographers may also offer discounts.
I’m getting married in Jan 2013 on a Sunday with a huge discount from my venue that is all inclusive, and if we were to have our ceremony and reception there during peak season we would be paying $45 dollars more per person. Here is a link to my venue, they also have a huge discount if you hold your wedding on a Thursday evening anytime of the year if a winter wedding is out of the question. The venue is in Bensalem PA, not far from Parx casino.
And please don’t think I’m crazy for suggesting this location; Nicks Roast Beef on Cottman Ave and Roosevelt BLVD! The have an banquet room that is REALLY nice, and looks nothing like the restuarant which is very dated and dark. We held my sisters baby shower there on a Saturday night, and when I went in to see the place for the first time before booking the party there I was shocked at how BEAUTIFUL the banquet room was! They accomodate up to 100 people with a minimum of 40 guest and their food packages range from $14 to $17 per person, all inclusive! And since your not providing alcohol you don’t have to worry about that extra cost. However they may charge for soda and juice. And they will let you decorate the tables, and add your own touches like cloth table and chair covers if you wanted. Here is a link to their website, trust me its worth looking at!!!!!!!!!!

@soontobemrsfoster: What about the Jamaican Jerk Hut?
It was where they had the wedding in the movie In Her Shoes…so I assume they do weddings (…but then again it was only a movie). It’s very quaint and they would have the food and atmosphere you’re looking for 🙂
