- Wedding: February 2015 - Chapel on Base
Well, we have decided to cancel our wedding and just get married instead. I am so relieved and happy to not be planning our big “budget” wedding. We are older, I am 45 and he is 53. My 2nd marriage, his first. When we started planning the recepetion was more important to him. Ceremony was all I cared about. Needless to say that meant we were having a wedding.
We became engaged September 14, 2013 in Laughlin, NV. We are considering eloping there since it holds sentimental value to us. However, for the cost of a marriage license we can get married on the Army Base for free. The Chaplain is already marrying us so we can just borrow their chapel and I get my church wedding.
We have had 4 date changes and 3 venue changes. Our first date change was because my dad was given 6 months to live. Then we changed venues from outside to inside because his parents are in their 80s and have mobility issues as does my mom. Then my uncle was murdered and we paid for the funeral. All in all I couldn’t get my excitement back and I felt like I “had” to have a wedding.
I think we will only be losing about $110.00 total. Our caterer is willing to use our deposit to cater a day at the park, Thanksgiving, or Christmas. I think we are considering a day at the park for all the kids in our family. My girls are 5 & 7 so I know they would love having a day at the park.
I really feel like I should be sad. Maybe I am if I think about all of the DIY I have purchased and won’t be using. Then again, maybe I will be happier once I start selling everything.
As of right now we are considering January 4, 2015 then our numbers will be 14 & 15. Silly but it sounds good to me. Anyday will be our perfect day.
Thank you everyone for making my WeddingBee experience great. I think I will stick around for a bit longer because I seem to find myself thinking about the girls that have been having troubles and I hope to find an update on them that they are doing well.
