I didn't change into lower heels, but I did kick my 4" pumps in a corner once all the formalities were done. Going from 4" to barefoot sounds worse than a lesser heel but I was fine. I never tripped or lost my footing. But a couple of times I grabbed my dress to dance. More often its someone else stepping on your dress. I wouldn't sweat it at all.
Is your wedding indoors or out? I just read a post about someone taking off their shoes and the bottom of the dress got covered in mud!
I am worried about the same thing! I'm changing to flipflops for the reception (custom made, which are tradition in Brazil), and needless to say there'll be a big height difference from my 4" heels. I'm going to talk to my seamstress to see if there's anything that could be done. If I keep the heels on, there'll be no dancing :(

Hello everyone,
It's been a while since I last posted something here but here I am again with a question:)
So the shoes I will be wearing during the ceremony and the first couple of hours in the reception are pretty high. And since I know that I won't last on those heels all night long, I bought another pair of shoes with lower heels which I will change into late into the reception.
The thing is the hem of my dress is altered according to the high heel pair and there is about 1 3/4 inch (about 4 cm) difference between the higher and lower heel pairs. I am afraid that I will be stepping on my dress when I am dancing and even risk falling. I am sure a lot of people change into lower heels in the reception so just wanted to see how you handled this.
thanks!
