Absolutely! I had a friend that did that and it was too easy. With hers, she had a zipper put in and then buttons done along the side so that after the dress is zipped, you hook the buttons over it. It turned out really great.
@mrsmurraytobe: Oh awesome! Do you know who she had do it? Just a seamstress or something like that? I would love to do this, I'm glad you said it was easy.
@whitandrior: Um she had it done at her bridal salon just because she was getting her other alterations done there but I'm sure you could take it to a reputable seamstress. It would probably be cheaper, too. Yea, super easy and I've seen it done the other way, too, where the bride has the zipper taken out to do the corset.
Some dress makers allow slight changes to the design. The designer of my dress allowed changes (Private Label by G) and I think Allure does it too. The first change was $150 (flat rate) and then they had different charges depending on the change. I had the fabric of my gown changed to satin instead of taffeta and I had the dress made for my height.
It may be easier for you if you can get it done at the factory.
@JoJo Bananas: I would love to get it done by the designer at the factory but it's an Alfred Angelo and the lady at the store said she's 99% positive they won't do any changes as she's asked before.

Has anyone done this? Not really a fan of lace-up dresses. Unfortunately the dress that I love in a lace-up. I want buttons. Is it possible?
