I thought this would be easiest as I have pay pal hooked up to a few sites, I have multiple credit cards in there, etc. I went to the change name page and they said I had to upload some documentation. I uploaded my marriage certificate since I had to email it to a few other places as well. But now they want a scan of my drivers license, or any government issued photo id. How does this help them when they can’t see my face?
I’m feeling leary about sending them so much info and wondering if I should just create a new account.

I thought this was strange too. On some level I understand it, but really, I think it’s weird – especially the photo part. On the other hand, I think PayPal has some really effective security measures, so it bothers me less (I got an email one morning that said “Are you trying to access your account from China? If not, please change your password. If yes, let us know so can allow access!” It was nice to know they had that feature!).
I actually was more concerned with the fact that I just emailed my credit card company through their online platform and they changed my name on my word, no proof required. My Victoria’s Secret card apparently lets me change my name on a whim, too…I can actually modify it myself.

MrsGatito: I had to do that as well. The ID and the marriage license were what they needed. Now I am updated with all four names!
