So my fiance and I are both in our senior year of college and will be getting married this July. I am going to be a high school teacher and I am beginning to start the job application process. When I begin teaching in August I will have my new husband’s name, however I will have my maiden name while I am filling out applications and everythig. Is there anything I can do to include my new name-to-be on my applications in a professional way? Should I just try to go get my name changed now so that there’s no issue?
Has/Is anyone else going through a similar situation?

If I were you, I’d apply with my maiden name which would match my diploma and then after being hired have them update with your married name.

I’m in the same position (applying for teaching jobs with maiden name). I don’t think it would eb un professional in any way to apply with your maiden name. Teachers get married eveyr year!

Also, changing your name legally without a marriage certificate (at least in IL) is way more of a hassle than with one.
I was applying for jobs all summer before we got married, and it was a pain to deal with employers pre and post name change. Remembering who got a resume with my maiden name, and all that, so I know what you mean. You could also just wait to change your name until you get a job.
