Fonnie Simmons :  If chargers that cost $1 are overrated, how overrated are laser cut placemats that cost over $10 each? (your first pic)

julies1949 :  and the second pic is gold doilies, 26$ for 50 of them… so…. 50 cents each roughly if you really want to sit here and do the math, I think OP was just trying to give a visual of alternatives.

brittnamrogo :  The previous Bee was referring to the first link… the laser cut placemats from the Brooklyn wedding are over $10 each. I know this because a few months ago, I posted that same picture to WeddingBee, trying to find where I could buy them (thinking that they would be a cheaper alternative to chargers–because I, too, think that they’re overrated/too expensive to serve no real purpose). And then I saw that the pretty laser cut ones were 10x more expensive than the traditional one 🙁

brittnamrogo :  If she is trying to make a claim that chargers are overrated, then it is a poor idea to include an example that cost 10 times as much. It doesn’t exactly make her argument. (especially when she calls it an “Inexpensive solution”)

julies1949 :  I didn’t even see a price anywhere on that first picture lol. Reading through the link, there isn’t one either. And I’m sure she probably didn’t either, I think she was posting it as more of a DIY idea… considering it’s under that section. I agree her information is kind of conflicting, but I think she didn’t realize the first picture wasn’t gold doilies. Not really a big deal, definitely not something to be offended over.

janna121215 :  I know she was, but to be fair the price isn’t listed anywhere on them. I think she was using them as an example of what a gold doilie would look like instead. 🙃

brittnamrogo :  I am not  offended. I don’t know what the OP was thinking.

Also, while some may view a $1 charger that really can help pull place settings together as overrated, so are personalized favors that will likely end up being left behind or thrown away as most people don’t necessarily want cups/magnets/random things with your wedding date on it.

Just adding in my 2 cents on unnecessary things.
