So wonderful. I too want to donate to a few charities that are near and dear to our hearts in lieu of favors. I love this idea and thank you for sharing!

I wanted to write a post about the Chartiy Favors i'm doing, thought it might be useful info/inspiring to others.
My cousin passed away from leukemia about a year and a half ago, but battled the disease for 5+ years. During this time he had 2 successful bone marrow transplants. This is what enabled him to fight as long as he did and saved his life and put him into remission (his passing was unrelated... funny how serious pnemunia can be for a cancer surviver) BUT, long story short, my whole family became involved in bone marrow registries. It's a cheek swab test to add people to a worldwide registry that people who need transplants use to search for a match. Matches are extremely hard to find, only about 1 in 10 people who need a transplant will get one, simply because the registries don't have enough people to find a match for every cancer patient. So, we did bone marrow drives all over the country, even set the North American record for biggest bone marrow drive ever, and we always worked with DKMS Americas, a world-renound marrow registry company.
When planning my wedding i knew i would be donating to DKMS instead of doing favors, it was a no-brainer. So i contacted their marketing people (i got to know the company very well) and they made up favor cards to put on the table!! they're so cute, and can work with any wedding. They say the following:
"We were lucky to find our perfect match, now we want to help others find theirs
In lieu of favors a donation has been made to DKMS, the world's largest bone marrow drive center... helping leukemia patients find the lifesaving match they need"
They come in red (DKMS color) and grey (to go with any wedding colors) and are available as a free printable PDF on their website here:

If you are considering donating to charity instead of favors i highly recommend doing so. These cards are already premade, all you ahve to do is print and put them on your tables at the ceremony. Easy peasy. And you could save a life. And after all, isn't a wedding about spreading the love?
