Hi ladies! We are registered at Macy’s, Sears, and Crate and Barrel, but I wanted to also include an option to donate to charity because god knows we don’t NEED more stuff. So I figured if people feel like spending some money, but don’t feel like buying us a fire pit, this could be a good alternative.
We’re having a local animal shelter set up a donations page for us that we can link to on our website. Our registry section is currently set up as its own page with the stores displayed top to bottom. I was going to just put this at the bottom of the list and try to make it a similar size and style to the others.
The shelter will provide us with names of donors (but not amounts given) periodically so that we can send thank you cards. I just need to write some language for them to display on the donation page and for the automated thank you that will be sent.
I want to make sure that people know that this is a real honest to god gift option. I want to make sure they know that if they choose to make a donation we will know that they did. But then I also don’t want people to feel pressured to make a donation if they don’t want to. And I certainly don’t want anyone to be confused and think that we expect them to buy us a blender AND make a donation.
So here is what I have for the message to be displayed on the donation page:
Thank you for helping us celebrate the beginning of our new life together! As you may know, we adopted both of our beloved cats, Chloe and Deputy Marshall Raylan Kittens (or “Little Kitty” and “Fatty” as they are known around the house.) We have included the Washington Animal Rescue League in our wedding registry because the League’s mission to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome animals who have nowhere else to go is one that is very dear to us and many of our friends and family.
The League will provide us with a list of names of those who choose to make a donation so that we can thank them for their generosity. If you would prefer to send in a check through the mail, just make sure to mention our wedding in the memo line.
We encourage you to visit the their website, warl.org, to learn more about cats and dogs available for adoption, community partnerships, outreach events, and volunteer opportunities.
Thank you for helping us give all we can to aid homeless animals in honor of our marriage!
With our love and thanks,
Me and Mr. Horse
For the automated thank you message if they donate online:
Thank you so much for your generosity! We look forward to seeing you at the wedding!
Me and Mr. Horse
So that’s my first draft based on some sample language they sent me. Although they referred to it as “our special day” throughout which kind of makes me gag… Any help clarifying our intent would be much appreciated!
