Anyone here live in the Charleston, SC island areas?  FI and I are considering a move.  Preliminary research leads me to Daniel Island, but we've never been and would love advice/suggestions.  Mid-twenties, and planning to start a family in the next 3 years.

    Thanks!

I actually just moved to South Carolina at the beginning of August.  We were looking into Daniel's Island but a relative of a relative directed us towards Mt. Pleasant.  She has been living here for years so after some research we found a place we liked and we moved in.  I could not be any happier.  It is so beautiful!  Everyone is really nice, we are only a few miles from the beach and to downtown Charleston.  We are in our upper twenties, there is plenty to do and I feel very safe here.  Happy hunting!

Hi there I am not sure if you have moved yet, but I live on Daniel Island (currently working in TX, and really sad and can't wait to go back each time).  Daniel Island is amazing if you can afford to live there it is a bit on the pricey side, but it is definitely a family friendly place.  I love it there our condo is right by the pier, and over looks the pond right out front.  There are days when I wake up and I just stare out the window, because it is just so gorgeous.  I am also a runner and I run the trails there pretty much everyday when I am home.  It is amazing to run along the water, and through the neighborhood.  Also I never feel threatened in any way.  I can blare my music throgh my ipod and not worry about some creep sneaking up on me.  I see kids playing all the time.  In fact afterschool I see them meet up at the little park by my condo on their bikes and hang out for a bit I guess before dinner.  I used to think to myself this is a place I want to have kids at.  We like to take our nieces fishing at the pond that is further in the neighborhood (Daniel Island has a lot of parks).  Also they just put another huge park by the tennis court (tennis is awesome here they hold the tennis tournament every year).  It has a dog park, a baseball field, and many other recreational areas.  I can go on and on about Daniel Island.  My fiance and I love it here (he works for Boeing so he lives there while I am working in TX right now).  They also have different festivals every year that I find enjoyable.  They bring a big shrimp boat up to the pier and you can buy fresh shrimp right off the boat!  I saw another bride mentioned Mt. Pleasant.  This is a gorgeous place too, and it is where all the shops are that I frequent, TJ Maaxx and HomeGoods there are phenominal!  It isn't that far of a drive from Daniel Island, and I like it there too, but I just prefer the slower pace of Daniel Island.  Hope this helps, although I am a bit biased LOL.

Oh I forgot to mention I am 28 :) and Fiance is 29 so we are in our 20s still too.  Granted we do live in a condo building with lots of old people but at least it is always quite, and they are all really really nice.  That is what I love most about the island is that everyone is really nice.  You will hear from some people that they think everyone is snobby, but as someone who actually lives there and interacts with people from there that is definitely not the case.
