Hi SC Bees!!
I need advice. My Fiance & I are considering having a small destination/elopement wedding in Charleston. His mother just moved there & we LOVE it there. We thought about moving down there a year back, but I was in law school & we decided to stay up north for a while so I can experience working. It is actually quite funny that his mother moved there…she only started looking because we were looking!!
Anyway, I need recommendations on where to have the reception. It will probably only be about 30-50 people. So I don’t want a huge receptional hall or anything like that. I would love for it to be outside on a patio, or a tent, or under a gazebo/pavillon. I’m thinking having some small appetizers during the cocktail hour, entrees, and cake. I am interested in BBQ too! Also, money is HUGE factor. I would like it be very reasonable. Our budget is 10K.

Hi Sea Spray,
Maybe check out the cotton dock at boone hall plantation, creek club at i’on, belvidere cottages.
They all are on the water.
Best of luck! if you are willing to have your reception on a day besides saturday you could save a lot of money here in Charleston. If you are looking for a caterer I would recomment Cru Catering.

Boone Hall is gorgeus. The day I was there they were actually setting up for a wedding and it looked beautiful.

Charleston is the best…of course I say that because it is my hometown : )
I am a wedding photographer in Charleston, and I can tell you it can be tough to find a venue in Charleston. The Cotton Dock is great, I’On Creek Club is pretty (I just shot a wedding there), and Magnolia Plantation and Boone Hall are beautiful.
Give me a few more details and I will be glad to give you some suggestions. I can be your local "connection". : ) Let me know how upscale you want it. We have a lot to choose from.
