That is funny... I bought my dress in Charlotte and live in Raleigh. I wasn't having any luck here when I was shopping. Anyway, I purchased my dress at Mecklenburg Bridal and they had a great staff and I was very pleased w/my alterations. I would think they could do alteration even if you didn't buy your dress there... I had a size 8 taken into a 4 (basically throughout the whole dress), shortened a few inches and had a bussle put in and everything was perfect. It was $340 (which did seem high to me a little bit, but worth it since it looks good!)
I took mine to Anna's Alterations off of Highway 51 in Charlotte - they did a really great job and i've heard nothing but great things about them. They have a couple different locations.
I went to Fran's Consignment on HWY 16 in Denver (right outside of Charlotte) and the shop owner works with an alterations lady who charged my FCIL $50 for alterations!
Definitely take it to Anna's Alterations. I believe the location in Dilworth on Park Rd may actually do all the alterations for J. Majors bridal store which is next door to it and is a very upscale bridal dress store. Every time I go in there they have tons of wedding dresses hanging in the back ready to be picked up. I've used them for bridesmaids dresses in the past as well as my regular clothes and have always been very happy.

Hey everyone! I purchased my dress in Raleigh, but the fiance and I are moving to Charlotte next week, so I will need to get my alterations done in Charlotte.
My dress needs a lot of work, I'm 5 feet tall, and all of my detailing is along the bottom, so it will probably need to be taken up at the waist. The top is also about 5 sizes too big, and my mom and I think it needs just a little more bling added :)
Does anyone have any recommendations for a great seamstress, with lots of experience working with wedding dresses in the Charlotte area? I'm more concerned with quality than price (although if they offered both that would be a plus!)
