@Running Elley: This is the first I'm seeing of your BFP!!!! Ahhhh! I'm so excited for you! ahhhh!!!! Really I'm filled with joy for you.
@mwitter80: Thank you SO much :) We're just praying it's a sticky one!
I stopped right away. I didn't the last time, and I wish I had.
Yay!! Huge congrats on your BFP! I hope this baby is super sticky!! I stopped temping as soon as I got my BFP, and I'm glad I did. IMHO continuing to temp will only increase any anxiety about the health of your pregnancy if your temperature starts to drop at all. (My temperature actually did drop somewhat on the day I got my BFP, and here I am 8 months later with a wonderful sticky baby.)
Okay, I'm officially quitting the thermometer. Just texted DH and told him to hide it from me before I get home from work :)
@skibobrown: Thank you!
@Running Elley: Horray for you! I am so excited for your BFP. I stopped temping a few days in. It's freedom from thermometer time! Good plan on getting DH to hide it. Congrats again! Enjoy!
OMG congrats! I didn't know you got a BFP!! I kept temping for a few days but was driving myself nuts so I stopped. *Sticky baby dust* to you! :)
Wait. What? CONGRATS!!!!
I think I stopped temping about a week or two so I voted 18 DPO.
Ack, congrats! I actually clicked on this thread to see if you were asking hypothetically or because you'd gotten a BFP, and here you are!
I temped for probably another couple of weeks, and when my doctor found out about it, she told me to flush it down the toilet if I had to, or else she was going to tell my husband to take it away from me.
It was really hard for the first few days I didn't do it, but continuing to take it was even worse. You made the right call!
Praying for the stickiest of all sticky babies for you.
@Running Elley: Oooh!! A BFP?!! Congrats!! I'm thrilled for you! :)
As for me, I kept temping for about a week and a half post-BFP...probably just out of habit. Then I realized I was being ridiculous, and I stopped! HAha. :)
I stopped immediately--didn't want to have to stress and worry about it. Congrats to you! :)
I temped until 18DPO as per TCOYF and every now and then I take my temp in the afternoon when I get home from work.... It's like a bad habit I just can't shake!
I temped everyday until about 20 dpo to make sure it wasn't a chemical, then I temped every once in awhile until I reached the point where I had miscarried previously, after that I stopped. So happy for you Elley!!!!
I stopped as soon as I got a BFP. Step away from the thermometer ... it'll just stress you out! Think of it as a perk to being pregnant, you can sleep in without worrying about taking your temp every morning!
And CONGRATULATIONS!!! Sticky dust!!!
Congrats on the BFP!! Sending plenty of sticky dust your way. :)
@RunningElley- Congratulations! I have no advice on when to stop temping but I am so happy for you
Thanks for the congratulations everyone!!! We could use all the positive thoughts that we can get :)
At the advice of you all I did not temp this morning and it was sooooo nice to not have to set that early alarm and worry about what the thermometer would say!
CONGRATULATIONS!!! So exciting. I stopped maybe 3 days after I got my BFP. I noticed myself becoming paranoid about every little dip, so I decided it was time to put the thermometer away.
Just a starter-charter, but I've seen you around the boards often so I wanted to tell you congrats! Happy for you :-) Enjoy sleeping in.
I stopped temping right away simply because of the stress... and I felt SO MUCH BETTER! I thought I'd be nervous without temping, but I realized that temping was actually making me MORE nervous!!! And ahhhhh, that extra bit of sleep in the morning felt oh-so-good!!!! Congrats again!
Not KU, not charting, but just curious: Why would you want to keep charting? I know a drastically lowered temp *could* signal that something was wrong, but why would you want that added stress??? I say step away from the BBT and just enjoy it. :o)
I kept temping because I was so afraid of another early miscarriage and wanted to be prepared for it. After a couple weeks my sleep became interrupted from getting up to pee that most of the time I would not be able to get an accurate reading so I wouldn't take it. Eventually it became pointless to even try. I did find it to be a relief in the early days to see the high, consistent temps.

I got my BFP yesterday and I'm seriously considering quitting my thermometer unless something comes up/goes wrong with the pregnancy. Part of it is because I don't want to worry if my temperature goes down by a teensy bit and I don't want to over-analyze. I'm also getting up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night so often already that it feels like getting an accurate temperature just won't work for much longer.
So, if you charted, how long did you continue to take your temperature? Did you never stop?
