So I have decided that I am going to go off BC when I finish my current pack (only 3 pills left and then the sugar pills) to let my body regulate. While it is regulating, I am going to chart it, so I get a good idea of what my cycle is like before I start TTC in 4-5 months. My question for the charting experts is… When should I start taking and charting my temp after I go off BC. I am assuming it is the first day of my period. Is this correct?

@onyx81: I was recommended to start temping after my first regular period off the pill. I never did though, cause i didn’t want to, but that’s what my md recommended.

@onyx81: It’s easiest if you start charting on the first day of your cycle, so the first day of your period. That being said, your cycles are likely to look pretty wonky for a few months after BC, so don’t worry if things look strange! It’s good that you’ll have charting down before you start TTC, and I recommend using a barrier method like condoms until you’re ready to TTC. Good luck!

Thanks! I know my cycles will be pretty messed up for a bit after stopping BC, but that is why I am getting off it so early. I also wanted to get into charting before we started trying, so I have a lot of knowledge about my body because after being on the pill since 17, I feel like I have not clue what my cycles are like, but I couldn’t find out when in your cycle to start charting! I ultimately knew it didn’t matter since we aren’t ttc, but I wanted to know. We will definitely be using condoms until then… my sister is getting married in July, and I don’t want to have a belly yet and deal with my BM dress not fitting since it is already ordered!
