Apothecary jars seem to be a staple for pinterest candy bars, although they also seem so pricy in stores that I couldn’t really justify getting that many.
I’m in Canada, but is there anywhere online that sells them at a resonable price? I see save-on-crafts mentioned a lot, but I couldn’t figure out if they even ship to Canada from their website.
Also, for anyone who has actually done a candy bar with apothecary jars – do the narrow mouths of the jars prevent people from getting the candies out? I assume you have to use tongs not scoops?

I dont know if you have a Kirklands where you live or not, but I constantly see these things there and a lot of times they will put them on sale for a very reasonable price AND there is always a coupon to be found.
If you do have a store, download the Kirklands “Spin to Win” app and you will get a new coupon everyday.
Other than that, I would just stay tuned to any wedding resale board that may have brides re-saleing theirs.

@CallMeMrsG: Thanks, I don’t think we have Kirklands in Canada, but wedding resale boards are a great idea!

@julies1949: Thanks – those are all great suggestions for places to look.

I don’t know if you have a Michael’s or a craft store equivalent in Canada, but I pretty much bought one a week (sparsed out) from there, each time with a 40% off coupon, and that worked pretty well.

Do you have Hobby Lobby there?

No Hobby Lobby, as far as I know, but we do have Michaels. I’ve got enough time that I can do the weekly coupon purchasing to have enough! Either that or trift store/classified ads. Thanks everyone!

Do you have TJ Maxx and Marshalls. We bought all of ours from there. We lucked out and even got some on sale for $5. I ended up getting carried away and now we probably have too many. But even the big ones, were only like $12.99.

Micheals is super expensive for apothecary jars. They were like $45-75. I ended up going to the states for mine. I think we went to tj max? They were 15-25$ there. And yes, you need to get wider mouthed ones to get the candies out. Party stuff sells small scoops that made it a bit easier and they also sell the baggies or boxes. Also Superstore and Ikea have large glass cylinders… not apothecary exactly but still nice.

@MOHlookingForIdeas: have you tried goodwill, resale shops, yard sales, antique stores, etc.
i find lots of unique glass pieces very inexpensively this way. i was looking for 12 old fashioned ice cream dishes. i got them for about 75cents a piece.

We just got a Marshalls near me, so I’ll check them out too (I thought they were just clothes, so I hadn’t thought of them). We have Walmart, although the only ones I had seen were $20 and that seemed like a lot for their size and Walmart quality. I might have set my budget a little too low, but I’ll check out everyone’s suggestions and see what I can find!
