@roweboat:  I always find great deals at The Gap! When you hit it right, especially after the holidays-everything is on sale! I also find a lot of great deals at H&M. I’d recommend finding a few good basic bottoms-even if they cost a little more, and then getting tops that are less expensive. I’ve found MANY $8 at Ann Taylor Loft, especially when they have 50% off for the holidays and their sale rack goes on clearance. I’ve also found trousers and work appropriate jeans at Banana Republic for $20.

Nordstrom Rack! Gap and Banana Republic sales are awesome, too.

@WhatMaeBee:  Yep!

I can’t wear H&M pants…they don’t fit right, they’re always too long or too this or too that.  I think their “business casual” clothes are too cheaply made for the prices they charge.  I find MUCH better deals at Ann Taylor Loft Outlet and Gap Outlet — and I think there is a Banana Republic Outlet, too.

OP, are you close to any outlets?

I like Loft and Banana Republic. The trick is to hit those sales! Loft and H&M (good for cardigans and funky blouses) both have great sales/clearance events through out the year (Labor Day and Columbus Day weekends are some of favorite shopping times), and I have a BR outlet near me.

@peachacid:  I should have specified- I can’t buy pants at H&M either but do well with their tunics and blouses, especially if I’m looking for something to wear over leggings that’s appropriate for work. Tops only @ H&M! Pants def at Gap & Banana, and the Modern Skinny cut at Loft works for me.

I’m an old navy girl, but with that being said I know that the stuff I buy won’t last more than three months.  In a pinch I know it fits and I like the colors. But most of the sweaters I buy don’t hold up very well. The jeans are great, but thats another thread…

I go to the outlet mall and I find great stuff that holds up well at Anne Taylor.

Target! I got a bunch of business casual pants on clearance for $7!! I had to get them hemmed, short legs, but they’re awesome! And they offer different fits. I like fit 3, narrow hips medium waist! And they have plus sized if needed

I can’t afford Gap, Banana Republic, Loft, etc.  I always go to Good Will, Ross, or New York and Company.  I also agree that Target has some good deals.

I buy most of my clothign at Gap, the Loft, and Banana Republic. And although these stores may seem expensive, the sales and clearance are unbelievable and I usually find much better deals that at a place like TJ Maxx. Old Navy, target, etc. clothing ends up being cheap to buy but looks like crap and falls apart so fast that I spend too much replacing it all the time to bother anymore. If your area still has NY & Company, that’s a good option too… boring, but it works.

The Banana Republic outlet here was having a huge sale today. I got several basic sweaters for 70% off ($15 each). I also frequent Loft and the Ann Taylor outlet.

ETA: Always sign up on their website for alerts before going in to the store because they will usually give you some sort of ridiculously awesome coupon.
