My venue has plastic samsonite chairs that I would like to cover. Personally, I wouldn’t bother if it was an outdoor wedding but for an indoor reception I feel that these chairs are lacking something. I was considering making half-covers that just dress up the back to make the table look nice because full chair covers are at least $2 a piece and I don’t have $600 laying around for chair covers.I figure I can get some $1/ yard bargain fabric and some inexpensive ribbon.
I was going to cover the top half and the entire back. The photo shows approximately what it would look like with my paint skills. I was going to tie a bow underneath to hold it in place. Any suggestions? Comments? Helpful ideas?

that’d be pretty easy to sew, cut fabric width of chair + a few inches, fold it over the height of the back and stitch the sides 🙂

Check out this video. It looks easy. Apparently it’s fabric that she’s tying, not paper.
How about ribbons. I don’t know if you could get them to work on the chair in the pic posted, but I was thinking of something like this:
I would say try using magnets to attach poms, but since you said the chairs were plastic, that wouldn’t work. But you could still tie them on with ribbon! Like below!
Here are some other pics of other ideas:

I don’t think you will even need to tie them in place.
You can also just cover the backs. Often these chairs are the perfect size to use two napkins as a slipcover (obviously you can use any fabric you want also).

I couldn’t find this pic last night, but this is an example of what a chair back slipcover using napkins would look like
