I’m trying to keep the whole wedding thing very simple, and at first I was not planning to send out Save the Dates, just because they are expensive to print and then you have to pay postage.
My Future Mother-In-Law is disappointed that we’re not sending any out because she wants her family to have that memento to hang on the fridge and be a tangible reminder since they are traveling from far away. I’m considering having a few printed to send to their extended family since she is fairly insistent.
What did you do for Save the Dates? Do you have any suggestions about doing them on a budget?

Postage is the biggest expense. Keep them to postcard size specs to keep that as low as possible.
You can get good deals on Vistaprint Groupons.

we did little business cards, just with the names date and place….they were really cheap too, and everyone can just keep them in their wallet!

weddingchicks template on cardstock, cut to size:
The cardstock was free from my FI’s work, but cardstock is pretty cheap at walmart. I know Fedex office (Kinkos) will cut things $1 per cut, but they stack all of your paper together,so if you have 20 sheets that need 4 cuts, it’s only $4.

150 of these for $34.50 at Sams Club and they’re 5×7 so they make great mementos

@ClassyKate: I created an image and had a place print them on magents for me for an awesome price. I paid 103 for 150 printed magents. I only sent them to guests in Canada and not to our guests in New Jersey so they could arrange for traveling!

ALSO I just remembered! I went to the dollar store and got these unprinted 4-5 cards. 50 in a pack with envelopes for 5 bucks. You CANT beat that! Try the dollar store and look online for Save the Date ideas and go from there. If you have a friend who knows how to use photoshop ask them if they can help you and then print them off yourself!

I made ours. We were going to have a brown/cream colour theme but now it’s purple so they don’t match oops! I printed them on cardstock and cut them to A6. Not the fanciest in the world but total cost was £8 so you know 😉 sorry about the size!
