Do you already have your vases? I got lucky and got 12- 2 1/2 ft tall cylinder vases for free (NIB) from craigslist. Then, after much debate and many visits to save-on-crafts and other online stores this is what I did. I found white long stem silk roses from hobbylobby when they were 40% off if you catch it on the day its on sale (which they are very other week) you can order however many need at that sale price. I bought 60 so I could put six in each vase. Then, I bought purple sumbergable floralytes from ebay @ 24.99 for 24 of them. Throw those in the bottom of your vase some clear gems on top to keep them in place and then your white roses. The roses magnify in the water and there is no way to tell that they aren't real. It is such a beautiful centerpiece. The roses are illuminated in purple light and my guest are sure to be wowed!!! I also have many other diy projects that saved me TONS of money..Like under table lighting that usually runs $80-$100 a light. Hope this helped you. Btw total cost of my centerpieces $84.99 for 10 of them.
@CassyT: That's awesome!!!!! Do you have a picture, if you don't mind!?!?! I can't believe you got the vases FREE? I have 9 cylinder vases 3 15in 3 12 and 3 10 inch... something like that.... the hotel we're getting married at also has vases... I do have ONE purple floralyte and a couple fake white roses that I got at hobby lobby so it sounds like I can do a test run of this!! I'm so excited that you found my post!!!!!!! Also, I have clear water beads that I put the purple floralyte in and that looked pretty cool just by itself.... I'm really wanting to use water beads too... there's just so many things a person can do
@SizzleC: I thought about the water beads but with as much water as I am using I think they would just float wouldnt they? I may try that. So, this is just my first attempt. I did this a second time but added the glass beads at the bottom so the light wasnt so bright and defined at the bottom and also added 3 extra roses in the spots where it looks a little blank. It also looks a bit blue in the picture but in person it is very purple. It is still a work in progress as far as arranging the flowers where everyone can see the front of at least one where they are sitting. All in all they turned out beautifully and I am very happy with them. let me know if you have anymore questions. I have tons of cash saving advice! :)
Ps. the picture quality kinda sucks. I took it with my phone.
@CassyT: Thanks for sending that picture!! How did you get the flowers to float like that or are they on stems that you trimmed. I did test it out I put my purple floralyte in the bottom, put the clear beads over it, then just stuck my one white rose from Hob Lob and poured water over it. I liked how the purple reflected on the bottom of the white petals. SO cool. The water beads would float.... sadly... but one centerpiece I was doing I used all clear water beads, put little fake lavender roses in there and then poured water over that. It looks like the flowers are floating but you would never know how they were floating. Are you going to have one cylinder vase on each table or more? I'm debating for that right now ...
best wishes!

I want to do submerged floral centerpieces in water beads. Anyone know some cheaper PURPLE variations of flowers that would look awesome in water?
