Okay, so I saw this on pinterest and really wanted to make it. When I followed the link though it didn’t show me how to make it, it showed me where to spend $500 + to buy it. Uhm… no thanks. It is a dog food container that looks like a simple set of drawers when all closed up!!! Yes Please!!
So then I remembered how awesome I am and that we had a really ugly nightstand that Mr. Hedgies parents gave us a few years ago for some reason. (Seriously. They had 2, and gave us 1… so only 1 of us can have a nightstand? I dunno. Oh well!) We used it in random places through the years and finally gave up and threw it outback, where it has been sitting for over a year. I was gonna throw it away and decided to use my said awesomeness to make the thing above. The only difference was I wasn’t going to put dog bowls in the bottom. It just wouldn’t work for our pups. Plus, I could sure use the storage space!
Here is the only picture I could find of the ugly nightstand. I forgot to take a before picture.
The top posed some issues getting off but I was able to use that as an excuse to use my fancy dremel… then I had to MacGuyver some tools to cut through some wooden dowels holding the top in place that my dremel couldn’t reach. Lets just say Mr. Hedgie would be very mad at me if he knew what a hammer, a pocket knife, a butter knife and some curse words all had in common.
In the end, after a few coats of paint, some shelf liners and new hardware I have turned an ugly peice of furniture into a extremely useful and cute dog food container!!!
What people will normally see:
(For some reason Mr. Hedgie decided to place the bags of dog treats in a fancy display before realizing they can’t stay there if we ever want to feed our dogs. lol)
What is really does!:
The pups were looking at me, waiting for the food they smelled. lol.
EDIT: The light brown on the edges is a weird reflection. It is really all a smooth dark brown.
I just HAD to share!!!
