Endorse them and deposit them. I legally changed my name four years ago, and for a long time, my bank account had my OLD name on it, though all checks deposited were in my new name. Just make sure you endorse them with the name that appears on the check.
You will both need to endorse any checks with both your names on them. The bank should be able to cash them no matter what the name is. We received a lot of checks with my new last name on them and I was able to cash them even though I haven't changed my name yet. I used the ATM and haven't had any questions.
Oh and by the way, we are date twins! Happy one week anniversary!

Hmmm... a bit of advice needed.
My name is Meghann MyLast. My week-old husband's name is Andy MyLast-HisLast. I will be changing my name to Meghann Mymaiden-HisLast
(it's a long story, but about 3 months ago, he legally changed his name to what our new name will be to make things easier)
We have recieved many checks for the wedding, in every concievable combination of names. Unfortunatly, he is a UK citizen, and we live in the UK. I am a US Citizen, and have a US bank account. Because he's never lived in the UK, I think putting him on my US bank account is going to be hard.
We recieved checks in:
Meghann MyLast and Andy HisLast
Mr and Mrs Andy HisLast
Meghann and Andy HisLast
Meghann and Andy MyLast-HisLast
Meghann and Andy HisMIDDLE (unsure how this happened)
I use an online only bank - and I called them to ask advice. There is an office for another part of their operations (this is Schwab)- and they suggested going into their office with our marriage license and seeing what they say. But they could make no guarantees.
My husband left to go back to the UK today, and hasn't endorsed any of the checks. Will this be a problem?
Lastly, if the bank won't cash the check, is it rude to go back to the gift-giver and ask for a new check in a more cashable form?
