I read that in Real Simple Weddings...pretty cool and disturbing at the same time. :)

Mine was: "On average, couples will spend $31,680 for their wedding in Seattle, Tacoma, Bellevue WA."

    We spent maybe $12,000 tops.

Hehe nice... for Charlottesville, VA, it's almost $31K.  We'll be spending about a sixth of that!  I'd like to see a median rather than mean though; there are probably some really pricey weddings at places like Monticello that are skewing the numbers a little.  Or whoever they're surveying!

yea the SF area is around $45K which is just a smudge over what we intend on spending. but i have a feeling we will be over and end up spending about $45k. I did not include rings or honeymoon in our budget (FH is paying for honeymoon) and the rings will come out of personal accts not our joint acct like the rest of the wedding.

    sigh~ but it's kinda sickening.

Wow I am also in the Twin Cities area but the wedding will be in Green Bay, WI. I guess I am really saving money having the wedding In Green Bay there is about a $10,000 difference. I still dont think I will be reaching the "average" amount, that still seems really high to me.

This is actually a pretty scewed way of looking at it and I don't trust the results. i'm assuming they just averaged anonymous vites- Note the "extra expenses" areas.

What the heck is the "additional items" section about?  New or used car?  Household items?  Adds up to over $250,000 dollars?  I know we aren't spending any quarter of a million to set up housekeeping.  How about you all?
