Uuuum, not ok. I don't want anyone wearing white at my wedding except me and my flower girl. I would not have chosen that, she's a crazy girl! Lol.
Major etiquette no no! Their bm dresses even look whiter than the brides!
I love the way that looks.....I wouldn't have ever thought about it...I'm wearing ivory and I wouldn't mind my girls being in white white...
Whatever floats your boat... I would never do that but it was their weddings.
Well, maybe I should have said..."They let their BMs wear white." I just noticed that there are like 4 pictures of different weddings. I just changed it :)
Wow...I don't think it's a no-no (at least for me) just because it's the bride's color (and the bride's day) but more because it makes for so.much.white. I don't like it even though the dresses are super cute.
I think the white dresses give a really clean, crisp, elegant look to the wedding party. I prefer the short bridesmaid dresses though because the long ones look too much like the brides dress.
I actually think it looks really cute. On the last episode of 4 Weddings on TLC there was a bride who had her wedding on a tiki cruise boat and had EVERYONE wear white. I was expecting her to come out in a red gown but she wore white too. Not my personal taste but it worked for them.
The first one and the third one look pretty good. The bride stands out enough and the effect is quite nice. The middle one however is IMO awful. They all look lik ethe bride! Maybe the key to having BMs in white is to make sure that their dresses are knee length.
I think this can be really nice... if you do it right. If the bridesmaid dresses are shorter and simpler, and the bride's dress is a formal wedding dress, then there really isn't any question as to who is the one getting married. In some of these pictures though I had a hard time figuring out which one was the bride. That's a no-no for me.
I think it's really pretty but it kinda makes me think of a sorority event or something (the long ones at least).
I REALLY love the last one where the bride's in white and the maids are in a creamy color. That is just gorgeous.
It's not really an etiquette thing if the bride asks them to wear white! Better than a random guest wearing white! P Diddy party anyone?
I actually really liked the idea of my bridesmaids wearing ivory along with me but my then-FI and sister vetoed it.
I like it! I think it does lend to a crisp look. My running gag with myself is "no one is going to wear white to the wedding...not even me!" since my dress is gold. Lately I've been tinkering around with the idea of having the BMs in cream since I'm wearing gold and obviously everyone will know I'm the bride. If I were to do it (and I just may) I'd make sure the BMs all had vibrant colored bouquets. I would also go with a shorter length though because I like the look.
I like color too much. I'd feel too much like a Polo add if everyone was in white.
Well personally I'd like to be the only one in white. If I went to a wedding where the BMs wore white I probably wouldn't think anything of it unless the dresses were long..in the one picture of the BM's in long white dresses I had no idea who the bride was. I like the white dresses shorter!:)
I've seen it done at two other weddings...both were actually kind of nice...one had the girls in tea length dresses like the 2nd picture, the other, the bride wore coral and her BM wore white...both turned out beautiful in pictures
my friend went to a wedding where the bridesmaids were in white as was everything flowers, linens, act and said it was stunning.
I really like the look. I think it works better if the BM's dresses are obviously different though. i.e. knee length, ivory, etc... That 3rd one I couldn't tell who the bride was right away. You also lose a little bit of the detail in the wedding gown. I LOVE the idea of a white wedding.
I love, love love it! I would have probably done it for my wedding except that the dress I chose didn't come in that color!
I love BMs in white---but not this particular photo. Something about the dresses is all off. But I have seen it done where I just swoon over it.
Well, it's not for me, but it's more in line with what bridesmaids were originally intended for: to confuse evil spirits as to which one the bride was, so that evil spirits couldn't curse the bride on her wedding day.
I think I'll take my chances, though
While it's not something I would do, I think it looks beautiful! To each their own!
I know a bride that had a gorgeous pink dress and her BM's all wore white - it was stunning!
I love the all white look. If I were having 'maids I think I'd have them wear a creamy ivory/white color.
I kind of like it. I wouldn't do it, but it looks very pretty.
White is my favorite color and I was actually thinking of doing this too... or a cream color. I do think the third pic... with the girls wearing an almost IDENTICAL dress as the bride with almost IDENTICAL bouquets is too much.
I like the clean, elegance of an all-white wedding.
I think it's cute and very bright and fresh. I think the "no other person should wear white" rule is something that brides stick to too fervently... all the guests know who the bride and the center of attention will be on the day of the wedding regardless of what anyone else is wearing.
In fact, traditionally, bridesmaids were supposed to wear white. According to this Wikipedia article:
The Western bridesmaid tradition is thought to have originated from Roman Law, which required ten witnesses at a wedding in order to outsmart evil spirits (believed to attend marriage ceremonies) by dressing in identical clothing to the bride and groom, so that the evil spirits would not know who was getting married.[citation needed] Even as late as 19th century England, there was a belief that ill-wishers could administer curses and taint the wedding.[citation needed] In Victorian wedding photographs, for example, the bride and groom are frequently dressed in the same fashion as other members of the bridal party.[citation needed]
I like it but i dont think i would do it. The 3rd pic is my favorite its soo pretty.
I almost had all my BM wear white too!
White is my fav color and I wanted the BM to wear cute short white dresses with green accents (much like the second pic) but, my mom convinced me otherwise and the gals wore green dresses.
I do think the article is correct, these pics prove that nobody can steal the brides thunder!!
I'm torn on this. Sometimes I think all white for everyone (NOT white tuxes) looks really chic and modern but upon looking at some of those photos, the bride really does blend in too much for my taste.
It looks nice and clean and crisp, but there is NO WAY anyone but me is wearing white!
I really like it actually. We considered having our BMs in white as well, but decided it didnt work with the rest of the colors. Truthfully, I didnt care about other people being in white at our wedding. EVERYONE there knows who the bride is and regardless of what someone is wearng, THE BRIDE is the focus. Ill get off my soapbox now, Im in a sassy mood :)
I think I would do it - not white BM dresses but ivory, and only if I were wearing a champagne or gold colored dress.
There was another one in Martha Stewart weddings where the bride had 12 bridesmaids who all wore white. They all picked their own dresses, so some were long, some were short, some were really beachy, some formal. It was.....odd.
I wish I could find the picture! Google is failing me.
