My Fiance REALLY wants a wedding cake of cheese, but I think people will be too full to eat cheese after dinner.  We are also having a wedding cake which is included by our caterer.  Instead of having appetizers, would it be a better idea to present the cheese table at the cocktail reception for everyone instead?  He really likes the idea of "cutting the cheese" together (haha), so I am not sure how to make his wish come true but also having people eat the cheese and make it a hit!

A cheese table would be really nice during cocktail hour! Assorted cheeses, crackers, and wine.... Yummmmmmmm!!!!!

I'm doing a DIY cheese buffet for my daytime wedding... using a big piece of wood, some fresh leaves, grapes, figs, and about 8-9 cheeses to try. Probably a small wheel of brie, a manchego, a maytag blue, a smoked gouda, an aged cheddar, some chevre... baskets of crackers and crispbreads off to the side.

Having a "cheese" cake as an appetizer is the perfect solution! A cake made out of wheels of cheese can be quite expensive, but if you have it as the center of an appetizer table you can use smaller rounds of cheese.

We are doing artisan cheese plates for our cocktail hour. I love cheese! I'm also from wisconsin haha. But I think it's good because then people won't get super full and will still want to eat dinner.
