Sorry! I made some edits to the post. But the differences are in the details and the design. I know its pretty similar, which is why I don't know which to pick!
The collar details are slightly different (dress #1 has gold colored accents).
The design on dress #1 goes vertical, while the design on dress #2 goes diagonal, leaving an empty space near the abdomen area.
Also different are the cut (slight) and color - one is deeper red than the other (but it just might be the picture quality).
Lastly, the difference is price. Since they are from different vendors, Dress #1 is $18, and Dress #2 is $45.
Thanks!
hrm... i like the one with the gold accents. but just a little advice... when they make the dress, the patterns will not always sit the same as in the photos. so just be prepared to not see exactly the same dress when you get it.
if you're not completely set on this style though... i suggest you look here... http://www.eaststore.com/ that's where i got mine. and amazingly, what i saw was EXACTLY what i got! they have tons and tons of different styles and colors. their customer service was outstanding. and the dress came in MUCH MUCH sooner than i expected! good luck!
Thank you, Miss Texas! I'll check out the website. I do like the style for the phoenix and dragons on it (trad wedding stuff).
i personally like #1. There isn't too much difference in them although i could see one has gold accents while the other has white accents.
Hi - I'm going to go in the opposite direction from the other commenters and pick dress no. 2. I like the subtleness of the buttons and the cut seems to be cleaner than dress no. 1. Colour is important as well. As you noted, there are many different reds out there. I ended up with a milky gold dress with red, blue, purple and gold flowers instead of a red one because I didn't like myself in any of the reds that I tried on. Not exactly traditional but I loved it, loved myself in it and it fit the feel of my wedding. Good luck with the dress hunt and the rest of your wedding planning and please let us know which dress you end up with.
i kept meaning to comment one more time about this...
ms tofu... i'm not sure where you're ordering this from, but i suggest you see if you can get a sample of the fabric they'll be using for the dress. one of the first cheongsams i wanted looked totally different from the photo online. like yours, it looked to be a deeper red color online but when it came in, it was that bright chinese red and made the dress look totally different!!! needless to say, i returned that one and picked something else.
You need to be careful that what the picture shows and what you actually get are the SAME! I suggest before you make a decision get them to send a sample as well so YOU can see(and feel) the difference yourself, the difference in price may be reflected in the quality of the silk/ satin and in the details (sewing etc.)
It os NOT always best to go by price either you may end up VERY disappointed!
I found EastStore.com this for me a good place for the cheongsam, here is one I chose (for bridal dress) they have others for tea ceremony etc.
I LOVE it!!!
ahh i love that train..i recently got mine made while i was in china..it has the traditional neck and pattern, but i have a single slanted side slit with a train..i can't wait to put it on!<span style="white-space: pre;">
