Alright…I know some of my habits can be quite annoying to the FI. I’m actually aware of it.
But last night, I came home from teaching body pump to find him doing the finishing touches on his homemade steak sandwich. He sits down to eat and we’re attempting to have a conversation but I keep losing my focus because all I can hear is:
‘Chomp, slurp, chomp, smack…’ I’m watching him eat and found myself completely grossed out. He sounds like a cow, chomping on cow and slurping up a piece of meat and onion that, oops, didn’t make it in his mouth, so slurping it in like spaghetti is oh so lovely. And he has NO CLUE he’s doing this. At 42 yrs old…AHHHHHHH!
I got so annoyed for some reason. I had to leave the room and go shower because I was going to vomit if I stood there listening to his mouth eat the food.
Today I kind of feel bad that I got so annoyed which is why I’m coming to you. Does your FI have any annoying eating habits?

lol YES! Depending on what we’re eating I sometimes honestly can’t sit across from him. The worst thing he does is lick his fingers all. the. time. Like… I can eat almost anything without my hands getting dirty. Even when I eat wings, I can keep the mess to my finger tips. But he can’t eat ANYTHING without putting his whole hand in his mouth. I’m like really…. you 2nd knuckle should NOT be wet from eating popcorn wtf. Drives me up a wall haha.

@Corgi – omg. Your post actually made me laugh out loud! That is hilarious. I’m such a P.I.T.A. about getting food on my fingers that I actually eat my wings using a fork! Talk about annoying habit, right?!!!

This post grosses me out because my FI is the same way. I have to constantly tell him to stop eating like a pig. It’s so gross. As much as I love eating in the dining room, away from TV, in our new house…Im sometimes ver much missing the TV being near so I dont have to hear him chomping away!!

@stephinPA: haha i actually avoid eating wings bc i HATE messy fingers! The other day we got chipotle and I ate it with a knife and fork because I was in no hurry and its less messy… FI is like omg you are too weird. (meanwhile, up to his elbows in hot sauce)

Ugh, I can relate to this, FI smacks his mouth when eating…sometimes I try to loudly imitate him when he’s eating to hint to him on how loud he’s eating. Often he doesn’t pick up on it. It’s most embarrassing when he does it when we eat with others…sigh.
I hate getting my hands/fingers greasy and often eat finger foods with a fork and maybe knife too!

THe link above is another annoying habit of the FI…all-inclusive of the final, ‘ahhhh’ at the end.

haha this post makes me laugh.
My FI eats like he hasn’t eaten in YEARS and somebody is going to take the food away from him. I’ve never seen anybody eat so fast. When we have dinner I’ve only eaten about 1/4 of my plate and he’s already done. It drives me nuts!

um, YES! My husband is infantry and when they are out in the field training, they eat as much as they can as quick as they can, because who knows how long it will be until they get another meal…Same thing happened in Iraq. So, the combination of that and the fact that he’s around guys everything day, and never around women (there are no women in infantry) my hubby’s table manners are less than refined.

My SO eats realllllly slowly. I know I eat fairly fast but all his friends even joke about how slowly he eats so it’s extra bad for me. I know this isn’t a gross eating habit so not as bad as the previous posts but it drives me nuts. We were on a cruise this summer and when we ate at the buffet places I would get my food, sit down and would politely wait for him while he piled the food on his plate. When he would finally sit down, I would be down with my meal within 10 minutes while he was about half way done. Then when he would finally finish he would want more!!!!!!!! Seriously, I probably sit finished for a good 30 minutes on many occasions while he is still eating….

My husband is horrible at slurping (like you would soup) except he does it for the wierdest things. The biggest one I have noticed is pizza. I’m not sure how but he slurps pizza. Its always when its hot and the cheese is stringing and he slurps it into his mouth. SOOO annoying especially cause we always do pizza and a movie night, so its always when I’m trying to watch a movie!!

Lol. You ladies just made me feel so NORMAL. My FI can drive me CRAZY when he is eating. He chews SO loudly and it just gets on my LAST NERVE. Then I feel horribly guilty because what a stupid thing to be so annoyed about! lol. I am glad I am not the only one!

The only big thing I’ve had to get DH to stop doing was allowing forks/spoons to come into contact with his teeth. Just thinking about it gives me chills – agh I hate it!!!
Thankfully he hasn’t done it in years (at least, not around me!)

FI never, ever uses a napkin. While that’s annoying enough, he likes to flick his hands over my food after eating french fries so all the salt from his hands goes onto my food. I’m not entirely certain why, but he finds it hilarious. I’m a huge germaphobe, which makes it even worse :P.

FI is such a MESSY eater. Floor, table, it ends up everywhere. The dog takes up a permanent residence under him when he eats because it’s like a gold mine under there. Plus, he likes to stack his food, so like if we’re having steak, potatoes and green beans, he piles it all up and shovels it in. It’s weird!
