Our chivari chairs will be $8.50 each and they come with a cushion. I have no idea how comfortable/uncomfortable they are but for us it is either that or no chairs at all! The other chairs that are nicer and look more comfy are way too expensive.
Have you considered renting chair covers for your venue instead? They may be cheaper than the chivari chairs. HTH
Thanks JCM! I forgot about the extra idea/cost of the cushion! I wish I could do chair covers, but that is out of the question because the chairs at my venue are this really strange plastic-y things. They are an odd shape and lower-backed, so a chair cover wouldn't even fit on them. :(
Pancy, I am going with chiavarichairrentals.com. All rental places I have looked at are around that same price-- $8 to $9 per chair range, which should include both the cushion and the setup. The owner is a friend of a friend and they have gotten good reviews from some of the knottie bios.
As to, is it worth it? Probably not.
But I started obsessing over them because ballroom chairs are so damn ugly. I have been to events with chiavari chairs, and the room really does look more beautiful. They are fine in terms of comfort; a little on the flimsy side, but not something that bothered me at a 3-hr dinner.
Chivari chairs really vary depending on location and in philly area, they ran from 6 to 9 dollars. The great thing about these chairs are that they are so easy to transport, so you can use them for two purposes- ceremony and ballroom, or cocktail hour to ballroom/reception. They are not super sturdy (you can't stand and jump on them) but they're comfortable enough. They should all come with cushions as well. I say, go with the chivari chairs or so a chair coverup- the the chivari do look more elegant.
Worst case scenario, since you can't use covers or if you don't want to spend money on the chivari chairs, try renting a sash or something to "jazz up" the chair?
i've decided to rent tiffany chairs. i really like the chiavari's but they've been at every single wedding i've been to so i opted for something different. also the tiffany's are cheaper....$5.50 each, and just as nice
thanks, ladies! I may just ahve to fork over the extra money to get the chairs.... I thought about the sash thing (JCM) but the backing of the chairs are this low rounded thing that a sash wouldn't even stay put :(
danibel, can I ask what a tiffany chair is? I tried googling it, but came up with nothing.

I was wondering how many of you rented chiavari chairs for your wedding. my venue is beautiful, but they have really nasty looking chairs. i reallly want to rent chiavari chairs, but at about $4-6 a pop, i would be spending nearly $1000
for all those chairs! is it worth it? are they comfortable? anyone know of a good/inexpensive rental place in the la area?
i also love the idea of lounge sofa type things. has anyone done this as well? once again, referrals would be greatly appreciated! :)
