Our prospective reception venue gave me a list of their approved caterers. Has anyone had any experiences with these? Good / Bad??

• J and L Catering

• Limelight

• Food for Thought

• MJ Catering

• Blue Plate

• Catered By Design

I don't have any experience w/ those caterers. I would ask the venue's coordinators about which is the most affordable, who brides are generally the most happy with etc. Our venue led us to our caterer (D'absolute) and we are very happy with them.

J&L was one of two caterers we considered. The food was great and Scott was really good to work with. We went with another caterer not on your list for reasons not related to service or food, but we both agree that J&L would have done a great job. Our wedding planner also thinks highly of J&L and works with them frequently. I've heard Blue Plate is one of the most expensive caterers in town.

Blue plate is at the top of the price range and we interviewed 10 caterers and blue plate's food was great but not as good as some others who charged less. If you get on their mailing list they have open house events often where you can see them in action. Food For Thought was also pricey but excellent.

We actually met with several of those caterers, but ended up with Food Evolution because it just "fit" us better. Sue was really great, she's really worked with us to make sure we're getting what we want.
