I'm actually using the art teacher in my school district! He and his brother in law are starting a DJing company and have great references and are still cheap. PM me for is email.
We used Just Press Play and they were great and affordable. They do iPod DJ, MC and full DJ services. If you search for them on the boards, you will see more posts mentioning them.
I know you want under $800 and my dj definitely isn't but he's 100% worth the money. Check out okynemedialab.com
our DJ was the best! spinnin' discs - you should check them out. it wasn't less than $800, but they seemed pretty flexible.
I've heard WONDERFUL things about One Stop DJ Service (I've also heard that you can't judge them by their horrible website, lol)...one of my budgeted bride-to-be friends just booked them for 6 hours play time at $795, but then they gave the couple $200 off if they paid in full up front...which made the grand total just $595!!!!!
We are using Tone Productions. They have a great price. We saw them at our friend's wedding and booked them the next day. They have a thing for clients where you can listen to examples or genres of music to help generate ideas. Then you list the songs you want and can change them often. We are excited to have them!

Anyone have suggestions for a reliable, inexpensive DJ in the Chicago area? I'm a little out of realm of experience here and want to find someone for the ceremony and reception for $800 or less.
Any suggestions are helpful.
