love the pics!!! i got teary eyed! i have a question maybe someone can clarify...my SO and I are planning a wedding. We were going to get married in Iowa and then have a celebration in our city (Chicago) where the marriage is not recognized, but civil unions are. I was under the impression that if we marry in a state that recognizes gay marriage, it would be recognized as a civil union here automatically. Do we still have to do a civil union through the court here?

@natp1982:hi! no you dont. you just take your iowa marriage license and walk it over to city hall and somehow they convert it to a civil union. its like an automatic thing. we just wanted both :)

We just got civil unionized in Illinois on 9/10/11. We got legally married in Iowa on 9/8/11 (two years to the date we met!).
