We are looking at D'absolute catering - their packages include hor d'ouerves, main dinner, linens, china etc, staffing (including bartenders if you are supplying your own alcohol) for around $50/per head. You need to factor in 10% tax and 18% tip on top of that though. But for Chicago, this seems to be a great deal.
I've also received an affordable quote from Ann Sather (up on Belmont, you know).
These are the two main contenders for our day 12/12/09. I need to set up tasstings etc now.
Conn's Catering was the most affordable of those we looked at. Their customer service seemed to be wonderful.
You might want to try City Provisions - Cleetus seemed very flexible to work with your budget. The caterer I went with recently raised their prices a lot so wouldn't recommend them if you are trying to look for a reasonably priced caterer.
We're using Hel's Kitchen, and we're getting hor d'ouerves, salad, main dinner, linens, china, staff, coffee, mixers (we're providing the alcohol) and dessert for about 60 a head. Our coordinator, Nikee Fellows, is wonderful to work with.
