I can do the 28th or the 5th. I voted 28th because it is sooner :)
I can do any of those dates, but I just voted for the 28th since that seemed to be the most popular one so far :)
Also, maybe ask the mods if they can make this post sticky so it will appear on top of the front page, for those Chicago bees who don't usually check the local boards?? I don't know how all the sticky posts work... but maybe worth asking.
Hmmm...I'll see about the sticky not thing. I'm not 100% sure how to do that???
Also----where would we like to meet?? Suggestions are greatly appreciated!

No problem. I am more familiar with places to go to in Streeterville, Lakeview, and Lincoln Park. I've heard that Poag Mahone's has a good happy hour. ALso Sweetwater Grill. I'm open to any and all suggestions!

I voted for the 28th! Once we feel we have enough bees lets figure out where to meet.

@chicagobride2b: those areas sound fine. Can we try to pick a place that is cta friendly :) I dont care where we go as long as it is not a loud and crowded bar :) I wish I had a suggestion but dont know the area well enough...sorry
Hey, I'm in too, sorry for the delayed response! I agree that somewhere near the L would be great. Preferably off the brown or red line, but maybe that's just me :)
I think a casual bar or lounge, like someone mentioned, would be fine - main thing I think is somewhere where it's not too crowded, so we can be sure to get a big enough table, and that it's not super-loud, so we can chat!

Places right off the El in River North/Streeterville: Martini Ranch off the Franklin Brown line stop; By the Red line stop at Chicago, there are several bars a block or two away - Celtic Crossing, Streeters, Clark Street Ale, Jake Melnicks - all casual bars. I dont think there will be any big games tomorrow (checked with the FI) so we just have to fight the usual Thrusday night ("let's get the weekend started early") crowd.
Feel free to suggest other places, I think we only said River North/Streeterville bc it was central or someone suggested? I'm open to going west by the Blue Line or south on both Red/Brown lines.
It also seems like only daniellealys and gymdive22 are chiming in - is it just the 3 of us?
@chicagobride2b: All these places sound great. They all got good casual bar reviews on yelp :) I have never been to any of them. I am not help...sorry...
actualy weather.com just changed the forcast that after 5 it should not be raining!!! YAY. But it will change again tomorrow so we will see. I will def be there tomorrow for the meeting up.

Darn! I can't believe I am just now seeing this :( I am going to the opening of Artropolis tomorrow night, otherwise I would meet up with you!

Maybe if we pick place/time and put that in a new post (with an "are you coming?" poll) it would be more solidified?

That Martini Ranch has some event on Thursdays where they charge a $5 cover - probably not the scene we're looking for.
I just thought of something: maybe a Starbucks at that time would be less "happy hour-ish"? not that we want to have a serious discussion, just that bars tend to get busy on Thursday nights. Just a thought though! If we want to try a bar, there are the few I listed a couple blocks from the Chicago Red line - maybe try Celtic Crossing first? It's a charming irish bar (with real Irish bartenders. hehe.)
A coffee shop is a good idea... there's a Julius Meinl on Southport & Addison. I've never been there but I walk by it all the time and I always see groups of people in there. They have some pretty big tables/booths. I don't know if that is too far north for people but it's close to the Southport brown line stop.
I couldn't find the bar Celtic Crossing that you mentioned, but I also love a charming Irish bar!
Sorry ladies, I just saw on my calendar that I made plans with a friend on May 5! If we can push it back to the following week (may 12), I could probably make it; but please don't cancel bc of me (though it seems like only the 3 of us are active here!?).
I've been by that Julius Meinl - it's definitely a cute place! It's a little north for me to get there by 6pm but doable if that's what we decide to do.
