@twoprissy: what does that $75-100 include? based on my experience, all the well-known caterers (ie. blue plate, food for thought, jewell, etc) are over $100 per person NOT including alcohol but includes all rentals and staff. if you use an up and coming caterer, you could potentially lower the price per head down to your range. one thing to note – some of the loft venues have an exclusive caterers list. usually the caterers on those types of lists are typicaly over $100/head, so be sure to ask your venue if they restrict your choice of vendors.

@littlebunny:  +1

I dunno if $100 a head will cut it. And like the pp said, some places require you to book a caterer through a preferred list so you can’t shop around for someone cheaper. And usually the vendors are preferred lists are crazy high in prices.

Just shoot an email out to each venue telling them you’re inquiring about pricing for a wedding. They’ll give you the exact info you’ll need.

my wedding landed in approximately that range (could have made it cheaper with a few different choices) – i used Prairie productions (on a Sunday) and Pure Kitchen Catering – Pure Kitchen did a family style setup for me, which they specialize in – this made it far cheaper than their plated proposal.  (FWIW, most other people we talked to charged MORE for family style)

Prairie also allows you to bring in any caterer you like, so if you’re open to more casual options that can really give you wiggle room in your budget.

@twoprissy:  I think if you had $100pp for catering/alcohol alone, you probably could find something. I found that otherwise with space rentals, insurance, transportation, etc, that it comes out to more than that. Some lofts cost $6000 just to rent!

PM me if you are still looking, I can share what I found.

WE booked wtih D-Absolute Catering..they are awesome!! it’s a husband and wife team and we are paying around $80 a person but this does not include alcohol..we are getting that through a different place.  It does include tableclothes, glassware, etc.. Really yummy apps too.

I’m having my wedding of 75-100 people at ARTango in Ravenswood. It’s a great urban loft venue and has catering, tables, linens, etc on-site which is a huge plus.

I should also add that I did a ton of research on alot of the venues in chicago and this place was the most reasonably priced.

twoprissy:  We are doing Lacuna Artist Lofts with 200-220 people.  The room rental is slightly painful, but their flexibility sold us.  We have to rent and bring in everything. We are doing our alcohol through Schafer’s and most likely Cocina Fusion for catering. They are super reasonable….$55/person with plates and linen and a full plated meal. By the time we do all of our rentals, dessert, and consider the room rental cost, we will be about $115/person.  It ends up being right along the costs of other lofts but we have plenty of space and will be very personalized.

twoprissy:  they have a large parking lot available.  the art does change, but if it was something offensive, you can ask to have it taken down for your event
