Any recommendations for an affordable Chicago photographer? I’m hoping to find someone for around 2500 (is that realistic? I have no idea–if it isn’t please tell me!).
I’ve spent the last two hours reading through old threads, opening up a million tabs, etc. trying to find a photographer. I got some ideas but I’m sure there are new people around now, and some of them no longer have sites.

It’s realistic…but it depends on how many hours you want.
I’m having 6 hours for 2400, but I’m pretty sure that my photographers, Mastushek Photography, are already booked for your date.
Do you want a studio photographer or a single person/couple?

That’s reasonable for Chicago but it also depends how GOOD of a photographer you want. Basically you get what you pay for. What is your style of photography? And like the pp said, how many hours are you looking for? Do you need prints, just digital files, albums?

- Wedding: August 2013 - Brookfield Zoo
I can recommend my friend, the last I asked his rates started at $2000
He’s done several weddings as the main photog and also second shoots for another wedding photographer, although we’ve only ever done couples portraits/shoots with him. If you check out his gallery, he has weddings in the “A Little Bit of Love” category. He has a very vibrant and beautiful style!

We booked GReyes Photography: http://www.greyesphotography.com/ They start at 2k and you get 2 photographers for 10 hours. Gilbert and Nessli are so nice and easy to work with. They just shot our engagement photos and I can’t wait to see how they turned out!

Dana Brandt of Happily Ever After Photography is very reasonable http://www.happilyeverafterphotographs.com

@bellaluna290: I think we need more than that, because we have a church ceremony at 2:30 and the reception starts at 5:30. So I guess I need at least 7 hours–probably more than that.
@littlemiss604: …the whole style thing stresses me out. I have no idea. I tried looking at examples of different styles, but mostly they look like pictures to me. I don’t like the photos with some parts colored or lots of effects or tilty ones. Is that a style?
I’m so bad at this! I don’t even own a camera and I take the worlds worst photos–I feel so out of my element!
Thanks for the recommendations so far everyone. I will definitely check them all out!

We have booked First Blush Photos based on the recs I saw here on the boards. They do an a la carte type package, but what I liked best is that there is no set amount of hours so no charge if you go over the standard 6 or 8 hours most photographers charge. I believe just coverage with 2 photographers startthe round 2k and thn you can add things like digital downloads ands such.

A coworker used Edward Cox Photography. It’s a company with multiple photographers, but she said it was really inexpensive and her pictures are really pretty good for the cost. The only (big) problem is that their photographer lost a whole memory card. So there are pictures of her getting ready with her BMs, and then it’s their ceremony. They don’t have any of their posed group pictures beside the formal ones in the church. Granted, that’s a BIG issue, but I would hope it doesn’t happen all the time….

North Shore Photography? Miller & Miller? They may be closer to 3,000 but it is worth a shot 🙂

I’m using them.. They are newer but I loved my engagement pics, there’s two of them and they were soo nice!

I used jolie images http://www.jolieimages.com
my SIL also used them.
They honestly did a fabulous job and they are actually under your budget. They have multiple packages to choose from. 10 continous hours of photography and they add lots of little extras depending on which package to choose. Definitely worth a look.

I would definitely recommend Emily Alt Photography. She worked within our small budget and we were so, so pleased with the results. I found Emily on the blog ‘A Practical Wedding’, and her photographs were just my style- candid and quirky. After meeting with her in person, I knew she would be a great fit. She was super responsive to questions leading up to the wedding, and went above and beyond in so many ways.
She really, really cared about us and our wedding photographs- she did everything she could to make sure it was a great experience for us- even going so far as to go over her contracted hours to make sure we captured everything important. On the day of, she brought us out of our shell, gave us great direction when we needed it, blended in during the reception, and all in all was just awesome to have around. Our families loved working with her as well.
Not to mention the amazing results- the photos themselves! Emily turned around the photos in a crazy short amount of time, and we were blown away by how many great pictures and fabulous details she and Ian were able to capture. Despite not giving here a ton of direction, she managed to get exactly what we wanted. If your looking for a cool lady and beautiful pictures, look her up.

Mine is for 10 hours with engagement photos and rights to photos for very under 2500. Closer to right at 2k i don’t have the specifics on me. Either way every quote I got was at 3k and up and comparable to what I saw on her site her price was MORE than reasonable and her work is fantastic.
theshutterblade.com her name is Megan.
i should say she is a bit more artsy re: seems to do more non traditional stuff, she may not be for everyone, but she is SUPER sweet, way down to earth and super available.
