We might be going to Chicago or New York for our honeymoon since I love the city. I LOVE Chicago (we hope to move there eventuallly) but my FI wants to visit NY. Anyway, we’re just weighing our options right now. Does anyone know of great hotels in either city that would be romantic and somewhat below the $500/night mark? Thanks!

Ooh – there are some great hotels in Chicago – we stayed in a luxury suite at the Hilton Chicago for our wedding night. Other great hotels include the W on Lakeshore Drive. Here’s a list of Chicago hotels that I’ve compiled on yelp:

- Wedding: September 2007 - Hyatt Lodge, Oak Brook IL
I loooove the Park Hyatt Chicago! It has amazing service and details, and the location is right on the Magnificent Mile!

- Wedding: June 2008 - Hotel on the westside of Los Angeles
The Park Hyatt Chicago is so beautiful, as is the Peninsula, the InterContinental, the Drake, and the Ritz-Carlton (recently voted best hotel in the country).

Penninsula, Four Seasons ( my personal favorite) and Park Hyatt in Chicago. Four Seasons, Mandarin Oriental, New York Palace, Waldorf Astoria are amont the best know in NYC. Also great are Hotel Gansevort, Hotel Giraffe, Hotel Library, W at Union Sq, Ritz Carlton. Check out http://www.concierge.com they have great suggestions for great hotels in either city ( or anywhere else in the world).
And on that note, I think NYC is way more romanic for HM.

I live in Chicago and my two favorite romantic hotels downtown are The Hotel Monacco (boutique style rooms) and the W (modern, super comfy rooms). If you want a great value (clean, good location, great price, good quality) try Hotel 71.

my fave "chain" is the W – i love the one on lakeshore drive and the one in times square! (wherever whenever!)
hyatt regency in chi is also cool
if your work offers membership to http://www.workingadvantage.com, you can get some good deals on hotel rooms!
we just booked the hyatt for june 6-9 in chi for $279 – not per night – the whole shebang!
GOOD LUCK & HAPPY PLANNING!!
