I love Chic Lit too! I am horrible about remembering names, but I'll try to pull some up and get back to you!
I read The Men's Guide to the Women's Restroom (or something like that?) while I was on vacation, and it was pretty fun!
Have you read any Nora Roberts? I like Vision in White (a first in the wedding series...the only one I've read so far)
I liked all of the Jennifer Lancaster books... Such a Pretty Fat, Bitter is the New Black, Bright Lights - Big A$$, etc. She's very snarky though so I don't recommend reading them all together, back-to-back. :)
No clue what chick lit is exactly. Is that like romance novels or written by female authors? If it is the former, then check out Lynsey Sands, Katie MacAllister, and Nora Roberts.
I absolutely love 24 Karat Kids by Dr. Judy Goldstein and Sebastian Stuart. Great read about a young pediatrician in Manhattan. Highly recommended!
All the Janet Evanovich series. Funny as and there is something like 20 books in the series.. should keep you going for awhile!
Cecila Ahren is a must! Her books are wonderful and are based in Ireland so reading about and visualising the scenery is fun. She wrote Ps I Love You and I really think the book is so much more detailed and better at times than the movie and not as depressing.
naangel: I was sadly disappointed by The Nanny Returns :( I loved the first one, but the second one was just a little..strange. But would love to hear what you think!
I love Jane Green's Jemima J--one of my faves. And Jennifer Weiner books (Good In Bed, Little Earthquakes), if you don't mind babies making an appearance :)
@MissGreen, P.S. I Love You was a wonderful book. Different from the movie so it isn't fair to compare the two for that reason, but is an excellent read where you're either laughing or crying the entire time.
@Ember, I never compare books to their respective movies bc they never do! LOL! My honey always asks why do I watch the movie or read the book when you've done vice versa. He does not understand its not the same. I was explaining this to him and alot of people about the Twilight saga. I was disappointed they changed so much in the movie PS I Love You, but yes I agree as I said, it is a wonderful book!
bridget jones - the original chicklit!
pride and prejudice - the original ORIGINAL chicklit!!! (just bought it on audiobooks, cant wait to commute :) )
Woah. Am I the only one that really dislikes "Chick Lit"? I just cannot get into it.
@galacticpony - I like SOME chick-lit...not all of it is bad. Emily Giffin's books are well written and thoughful.
Thanks for all the great ideas! @Ember78 - chick lit is books written for women that are usually pretty light and funny (at least in my opinion). If you have read Confessions of a Shopaholic or Something Borrowed, those are perfect examples.
I think the hardest part about finding new books is that books come out with redesigned covers all the time! I actually bought 2 different books on 2 occassions because I thought they were new and after I read the first chapter and it seemed vaguely familiar, I realized Id already read the book but it was a different cover and description!
@naangel - we have the exact same taste in books - I love Sophie Kinsella and Emily Giffen. I have read Jane Green and she was OK. Candace Bushnell (SATC writer) on the other hand I really disliked - the writing was just kinda dry!
My Favourite of all fovourite authors is Marian Keyes she is Irish (I think) and amazing. The other side of the story is my absolute favourite and the first book of hers that I read!
If you do decide to read something by her let me know what you think!
I looooove chick-lit books! I've read all of the books you mentioned.
FutureMrs.Martin I LOVE Marian Keyes
Books by Raphaelle Germain. She's French Canadian, but I know it's been translated in English. Very, very chic lit!
Nice! I love these, they are my favorite escape! Thanks for suggestions above, I keep titles I want to read in my phone cause my memory is crap.
I love Meg Cabot's books- especially "Every Boy's Got One" (elopement to Italy). "Bridget Jones" books are what got me started in this addiction. Well, maybe it started with Anne of Green Gables long ago :)
I second Caprice Crane's "Forget about it", I want to check out others from her!
I liked Emily Griffin's "Something Borrowed" and "Something Blue" but wasn't a fan of her last two books.
Love, love Lauren Weisberger (Devil Wears Prada) Everyone Worth Knowing was even better! Sammy..... sigh, just sigh.
I like all of Sophie Kinsella's books! Especially "Remember Me?" Not a fan of her writing as Melanie Wickham though.
Plum Sykes- "Bergdorf Blondes" and "Debutante Divorcee" are good, can't wait for more from her!
Maybe on the outskirts of chick lit, but I enjoyed: Annette Blair has a cute witch series. And Cynthia Baxter has a fun vet murder mystery series. I really have enjoyed Debbie Macomber's stuff, especially the ones set in the pacific northwest. I like some of Nora Roberts books- I re-read Jewels of the Sun, Tears of the Moon, and Heart of the Sea about once a year. To add a guy in- Nicholas Sparks: The Notebook and The Wedding were written with such great emotions.
Jane Green was meh, and I hated several of Candice Bushnell's stuff- but I really, really don't like SATC (yeah, I know, sorry- I will leave my girl card at the door!).
I like some chick lit, but I find that I read those books way too fast...but sometimes that's exactly what I'm looking for.
I really like Emily Giffin's books. I read a book called Knitting Under the Influence that I really enjoyed, but I can't remember who it's by. Sophie Kinsella is great, too, but I was a lot less impressed by the books she wrote as Madeline Wickham.
I second the Jennifer's...Lancaster and Weiner. I also like Sophie Kinsella's books. I usually take these books along with me on vacation, when I don't want to have to concentrate too hard on anything at the beach. While not really chick list, I also enjoy reading books written by women during their solo travels, several of which were a great inspiration for me.
I'm not a HUGE chick lit fan, but I do like some of it. My favorite chick lit is The Little Lady Agency series by Hester Browne. It starts with The Little Lady Agency, funny and just FUN books!
Anything by Janet Evanovitch or Jen Lancaster!! I haven't read much Chick-lit, but those two are definitely my faves!
I go through phases where I love it, but I also go through phases where I absolutely cannot stand it and I think it's an abomination to literature. But really, that feeling goes mostly toward the vampire romance genre now. SERIOUSLY, I thought Chasing Harry Winston was bad... vampire romances are SO much worse. But, not going to lie, I love the Shopaholic series with an unsual affection. The movie was cute, but the book was better. I refused to see Devil Wears Prada cause I thought the book with cute.
@KM - Devil Wears Prada was a GREAT movie! You should definitely see it!!!!!
meg Cabot's adult books are awesome! I adored the "Queen of Babble" series and LOVE "She Went All the Way" not so fond of "Size 12 is not fat" etc. but that's just me

I love chick-lit! Sophie Kinsella (Confessions of a Shopaholic, Can You Keep A Secret, etc) and just read Something Borrowed and Something Blue by Emily Giffin. Im halfway through Forget About It by Caprice Crane (a girl gets in accident and realizes she can pretend to have amnesia and have a new life because she believes hers is terrible and she normally lets herself get walked all over). I still want to read the rest of Emily Giffins books, but what other Chick-Lit books have you bees read? Id love some suggestions! Nanny Returns (sequel to Nanny Diaries) is also on my list, as soon as my mom finishes it!
