The fiance & I went to a wedding this past weekend and it made me completely 100% positive that we NEED to have children’s bags for the reception! Our daughter a bunch of other young children spent the entire speeches/toast of the reception (the part I like best) downstairs, playing on the stairs, because there was nothing to entertain them at their tables. I know that not every kid is going to sit there and color during the “boring” speeches, but I think it’s a nice added bonus for all the parents that’ll be coming, anyway!
What things are you including in your activity bags? What “age” will be the ‘cut off’ age to receive the bags? And what type of bag are you putting them into?
So far for my bags I have random things like in the photo….bracelets, glow sticks, balls, wind up toys, etc, etc. I just realized that I had meant to keep them gender neutral but the bracelets don’t exactly work for that lol. I also plan on buying coloring books and crayons from the dollar store.

We are doing this too! Our kids tables will be for those 12 and under, although most of the things in the bags will be for younger kids. I think the 12 year olds can entertain themselves for the most part. They will probably have cell phones to play games on.

I love kids boxes. My son would never ever sit still for speeches, so one of us is always following him around the hallways or back areas where he can explore (he’s 20mo).
One note, as the mom of a boy, those baseballs are soft, right? I think so… but at first I thought they were normal baseballs and I my blood pressure rose just thinking of a 3yr throwing it at grandma during the speeches or something!
One extra idea, little matchbox cars. Little boys can play with those nicely for a good while and they’re pretty cheap.

@Miss Starry Night:Yep! Those balls are definitely soft! Lol. I have a 22 mo old daughter so I def am thinking safety first! 🙂 And I know exactly what you mean about your son not sitting still. My fiance is still talking about the hilarious speeches I missed at the wedding we went to on Saturday because I was chasing our kid around one level below where the speeches were happening! I think every parent should be able to appreciate an activity bag! I will definitely be picking up some little cars from the dollar store (my daughter loves them so I know they’ll keep her happy, at least lol).
