I've been to a wedding at China Pearl Quincy before, so I can only tell you my observations from a guest perspective, but I did get some of the bride's perspective as well. The bride went through a number of issues with the restaurant - namely the restaurant double booked weddings. My friend booked the restaurant first (a large wedding) and once the restaurant realized they double booked (or maybe it was on purpose), they asked my friend if they could lower the number of guests they were planning to have. Doesn't that sound rediculous especially if you've sent out all your invitations already? My friend was at the restaurant almost every day after she got the call to speak to someone about the situation. Finally, it was decided that both weddings would take place in the restauarnt with a "wall" separating the two events. On the night of the wedding, we heard almost everything that went on at the other wedding from introductions, to first dance, etc. I'd say be very careful when you're working with the restaurant since I perceive them as a bit dishonest. If you're going to have a wedding there, I would say book the whole restaurant but I know that's a lot of tables! Also, when you book a Chinese restaurant there are almost never any contracts including Quincy's China Pearl.
The food was alright too. Is there a specific reason why you want to book Quincy's China Pearl? I had my wedding at Hei La Moon and know of others who did the same. We all had great experiences and the food/service were great! :)
Oh wow, your story just scared me! Well, we actually already booked the restaurant for our wedding. The only reason was that both my fiance and I did not want to have the banquet in Chinatown, due to never being any parking and felt cramped there. So we settled with China Pearl in Quincy since it's literally 10 minutues away from where we live. I hope nothing bad happens!
Good luck! :)
Also, Hei La Moon has parking above the restaurant. It costs money, but there's plenty of parking there. Additionally Hei La Moon didn't feel cramped at all but I guess it depends on how many people you're inviting.
Can you tell I stand strongly by Hei La Moon? I <3 that place! :)
@Jenny25: I'm also planning a wedding this June at China Pearl Quincy. If you are still checking here, did your wedding take place already? How did it go?
