    Hi Bees,

So after spending a while in Bloomingdales looking at China, me and my mom picked out the Kate Spade Sonora Knot set.  At first glance, I wasn't WOW'd by it , but when we set it on the sample table, it just looked so classic (which is what i was going for).  I especially like how it had gold and platinum bands which could make it really versatile.  So it could go with a variety of color schemes/seasons.  What do you guys think of it?  I would also LOVE to see what china sets other have picked out.

i really love that china set! i was debating between that one and the one i ended up asking for (the tea cup swayed me lol). i was the same as you, wanting something classic. i saw all of the ones at bb&b that were very modern with the pictures and stuff on them which i thought were absolutely really cute, but i wanted to make sure in twenty years i still loved it just as much. here is the one i ended up going with:

it is by Mikasa and i found it at Macy's.

anyway, yes, i love your choice!!

Well, we are not getting fine china. We are a miltary family and it's just one more thing to break in a move. Plus, my grandmother is giving me her heirloom set of platinum banded china after we are settled somewhere. But, if I were going to register for some, this totally would have been it:

Kate Spade Belle Boulevard- It's beautiful, but crazy expensive. $129/place setting!

    China - What's your favorite?? : wedding gifts registry 305159 Fpx.tif?bgc=255,255,255&wid=327&qlt=90,0&layer=comp&op Sharpen=0&resMode=bicub&op Usm=0.7,1.0,0.5,0&fmt=jpeg

This is the casual dishes we ended up registering for.

Mikasa Circle Chic in black, a much more reasonable $40/place setting

Gorgeous! We're registered for Lennox Hannah Platinum, which photographs like plain boring white china with a simple platinum band (so I'm not posting it! ;) but it has some really cool white-on-white patterns that go really nicely with our silver (gift from his parents)!

I'm kind of ridiculously excited about it.

@azinaugust  !!!!!!  That's my great grandparents' china!!  I almost cried when I saw it!!  My granny gave it to me and my mom in turn gave it to my brother and his first wife and she broke all of it :(  I'm glad someone else on this planet has the same pattern and will love it!!!

Thanks @bloodgo1 I originally though I wanted something less busy and more timeless like your selection, but then I found out we had a full 12 piece set of that (yes including tea cups and serving pieces) so I counted it as a pretty awesome score :o)

So I opted for something a little more funky to put on my registry.

This is Kate Spade June Lane in gold.

I LOVE china.  And was working for a fine china company when we got engaged.  I lost my job before the wedding so we bought a ton with my discount before we left and then just registered for pieces that I couldn't get.  I have a ridiculous collection:

12 place settings of Wedgwood Oberon

6 of Martha Stewart Bouquet Silver to mix and match with 6 of Wedgwood Sterling

And various accent plates and all purpose bowls to switch it up a bit

We registered for Wedgwood's Platinum Signet.  Not hugely exciting to look at in the photo, but clean, classic and elegant on the table.

We're not planning on registering for fine china. We have nice, simple white plates that can be fancy or casual depending on the table setting, and that's all we need.

These patterns are very pretty, though. :)

We have registered for the London Collection by Wedgewood. I love it b/c it's simple and elegant. It is rather pricey and I can't help but feel a little guilty, but it's perfect for us.

@monitajb I am in LOVE with the chirp collection by Lenox, I even registered for the beautiful vase from their collection. My fiance has said that he trusts my taste and I can choose our casual dinnerware, and I would love to register for the chirp collection, but I feel guilty b/c I have already registered for the pricey Wedgewood...am I overthinking this?Wink

One question to everyone who posted above - Did guest actually BUY your china as wedding gifts?

@ FutureMrsL4: meh, I love it, so that's what I got! If you want the chirp in the future, though, it goes on sale all the time. My mom bought me four place setting for less than the price of two for my birthday in mid-February. And, BTW, they are beautiful and I love eating my food, which is usually just a frozen meal from Trader Joe's, off of them.

@ Mrs.Louboutin: perfect choices with the accent plates. I think you will love that. I also plan on purchasing additional accent plates from other patterns in the future. Then again, I'm sure my china acquisitions will not stop with the registered items....

@PomPom - Yes, guests did buy china for us. We didn't get our complete set, but we were able to finish it out with gift cards. But we're in our early 30's and already had a lot of the more expensive items that are usually on peoples' registries, like pots and pans, knives, mixer, etc., which I think affected how much china we received.

We got all of ours save for a few pieces like a platter, butter dish and an extra vegetable bowl. I bought those with some of our gift money. My Mikasa set wasn't terribly expensive, especially with Macy's great sales.

To much of my FI's family's dismay, we didn't even put China on the registry!  We just wanted to replace our everyday dinnerware and appliances.  All this china you guys have chosen is beautiful.  Now I'm wishing we had but its too late.  My FI's mother decided she'd be picking out our china... just like she did with our comforter- which was not pretty at all.  Should be interesting.
