First of all, how do you say “no” to a man that uses food to propose? As a cook myself, he totally knew how to get to my heart.
Some background info: on 4/11 I had a nice long surgery on my sinuses and also had my tonsils removed. A tonsillectomy at age 26 is not easy! After 2 1/2 weeks of being miserable and in pain (and only eating oatmeal and italian ices), I’m finally back to normal.
wednesday, 4/23: I finally ate real food again at lunchtime! Once my boyfriend found this out, he begged that we get Chinese food for dinner. Chinese food is usually a weekly thing in our house because we love it so I guess he was starting to crave it since my surgery. I figured some beef and broccoli would be ok to eat since its soft enough. So I ordered us both dinner for him to pick up. We ended up pulling in the driveway at the same time and I walked in to a dozen white roses and pink lilies on the table. Ladies, flowers is a bi-weekly thing from my man…so still at this point I have no idea what is about to happen.
I head to the bathroom, throw my hair up in a terrible bun..unbutton my too snug dress pants and head back to the kitchen. As I am taking the Chinese food out of the bag, I notice that the fortune cookies were in a different wrapper than usual. My boyfriend shrugged it off and said “maybe it’s a really good one then”. Silly me, I still didn’t get the hint. He asked me to open the fortune cookie and that is when I looked over at him to see his phone standing upward (recording me I assume). My heart stopped as I read “will you marry me?” on my fortune, and look at him to find him on his knee.. His face bright red and hand shaking. I love, love, love the ring he bought, it is so gorgeous!! After me saying “YES!!!!” we poured ourself a drink. * ps no one will ever see the proposal video because I look awful! Lol
Although I never expected to be home..eating take out.. I wouldn’t of changed anything about this whole moment! We are so happy and very excited for the next year to come!
