Have you checked out Mulan in Flushing? It looks like it's good Chinese food but the decor seems pretty modern/American.
I booked my wedding at Jade Asian Restaurant. Even though it is a traditional Chinese restaurant, the decor itself is not so Chinese but more Americanized. When you check out Mulan, check out Jade Asian Restaurant (diagonally across from Mulan).
Or you can always hire someone to do drapery and lighting. Look at how they tranformed East Manor on Kissena Blvd.
Thanks MehBee and Gerbera for the recommendations. I'll definitely check out Mulan and Jade Asian. The picture of East Manor is great - my only problem with them is I really don't like how I'll likely have to share the space with others.
I know what you mean. For Jade Asian, they need you to book 28 tables in order to give you the whole floor.
FI and I had the same desires and we went with Sheraton. We have a small wedding though. Feel free to message me if you want to.
We're having our wedding at Dynasty on Lexington and E38 in the Lexington Radisson Hotel. I can't recommend them enough - they have been wonderful so far. We've had 2 tastings and the food is always a hit with whoever I'm with. Its small so its perfect for us - we're only having 15 tables. The decor is beautiful - very modern with a vintage Chinese twist. We're so excited to have our reception there. If you want more info, pm me! :)

Hello, do any brides have any suggestions for a chinese style banquet in NYC but not at a traditional Chinese restaurant? My fiance and I want to have both a western ceremony as well as a traditional chinese banquet. I've looked at the Sheraton LaGuardia in Flushing, and that seems to be the only place that can fuse the asian and western. Anyone have any experience with the Sheraton LaGuardia?
