Since no leaf is identical, I'd suggest changing it up a bit and adding a bit of texture to some of the edges to make it look more real. Beautiful idea and it will photograph fantastic! Have fun! :)
(Side note - I tried to find it for you online but to no avail - Martha did an entire chocolate cabbage for easter one year and it was so beautiful.)
@sfchick: I saw the cabbage! It looked pretty impressive. Thanks for the idea. Also, I saw tips on another little leaf tutorial for bending the leaves as they solidify to get a feeling of different shapes.
@sfchick: I think these are the instructions for the cabbage. No picture though.
@cirrus: it's going to be ROCKING! You've inspired me to be creative - maybe over the 4th of july I'll attempt making leaves myself :) If you are doing it yourself, remember to give yourself lots of time so you don't panic. I tried my best to not overdue it on y wedding but I was still a stress case :(
@sfchick: lol naw just lucky when I try to look up stuff for other people. If I try to find anything for myself it usually results in me pulling on my hair in frustration.
@sfchick: That's good advice! I think I'll freeze the cakes maybe two weeks in advance.
@FloretteLiz: Thanks for the instructions. I wonder if it's harder to create the bigger leaves.
@cirrus: I'm not sure if they are more difficult or not. I love baking but am horrible at decorating. I hope you post some pics if you try these. They look awesome!
@FloretteLiz: I plan on doing birthday cake trials since the summer is busy for birthdays in our family. I wasn't going to bother to practice the decorating for them, but maybe I will.
